Review 2738: Politian Apartments, Apartment #2

Review by ~passerotto from Rome, Italy

apartments in Montepulciano, Tuscany South

May 7-9, 2007, 3 days

Absolutely adored this apartment. The views out both bedroom windows cannot be matched if you want to enjoy the perfect Tuscan sunrise or sunset. Also having access to a living room to sit and chat (there were three of us) was wonderful.

Giacomo has furnished the apartments with nice antiques and a slew of books in English and Italian, so if you are planning a longer stay, you have plenty to read on a relaxing afternoon. Master bedroom had a firm bed and the second, two twins that were more than comfortable. Also has a washing machine which could come in handy for longer stays than ours.

One note of importance though, we stayed in the Apartment two, which meant navigating up and down a few flights of stairs to access the garden entrance. If you are luggage hauling adverse, this could be the only downside. For us, we just took our time (we were carrying quite a bit of wine and didn't want to leave it in the car).

That said, I am sure we will be staying here again in the future. Perfect location, perfect host, perfect way to experience Montepulciano and not get that "hotel" feel.

Nearby Amenities

Near many coffee shops both up and down hill from the apartment, close to Acquacheta and several other restaurants and several wine related establishments. Little grocery about five minute walk down hill has most of what you need.

The House/Apartment

Historic apartment in a lovely palazzo with flowering garden, quiet enough to hear the rondini. Layout is nice as the bedrooms are separated by the living room, which gives some privacy and sound barrier.

Shared with tables and chairs and nearby friendly pup who loves to be petted.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Very, very clean, furnished with antique pieces.

Beds were OK ... have slept on more comfortable, but I think everyone prefers their own and these were fine for a few days. Comfortable bathroom with tradition box type shower.

Pots, pans and dishes for every day use, some pre-stocked spices so we didn't have to race out and buy a lot of staples (sugar, salt, etc).

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Booking was easy, with deposit made via PayPal. Giacomo was prompt and polite and was waiting to meet us when we arrived.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Absolutely would recommend this apartment to others. I was very very happy staying here.

Things to do in this area

Plenty of good places to eat in Montepulciano. We day tripped to Montalcino and Cortona as well as several wineries in the area as I was doing some wine writing for a publication. Good home base to the Lago Trasimeno area.
