3bed/2bath apartment in Santa Croce, Venice WhenMay - June, 2007, 7 days LocationAfter toasting for eight nights in our apartment rental, Zattere, the agency offered to move us to this beautiful apartment on the Grand Canal at San Stae. We loved it. It was great to watch the boats from our living room and dining room windows. Nearby AmenitiesWe had a Co-Op market close by but decided to do our shopping at the big Billa market across the Grand Canal or at the pescheria. The restaurants in our area were wonderful, the best (thanks to Chow Venice and Nan)! The House/ApartmentThis three bedroom, two bathroom apartment was in the Palazzo Pruili-Bon, which was historical with only five apartments inside. Our apartment was totally refurbished and up-to-date. GardenThere was no garden or balconies. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture looked new except for a few antiques. It was very comfortable for four to five people. The kitchen and bathrooms were ultra modern and the whole apartment was immaculately clean. There was satellite TV, CD, and DVD player. There was enough sofas and chairs for six people. Bedrooms/BathroomsBeds were comfortable. There was always enough hot water in the tub and shower but it was tricky to regulate the water in the shower so that it did not scald you or was too cold! I think this must be a thing that happens with old pipes. KitchenWhat a wonderful kitchen! Brand new appliances but the dishwasher did not work (or we did not understand how to use it). It was very well equipped and even had a toaster and a water kettle. Was great for cooking. Problems or BonusesThis apartment has air conditioning that really works well. But no elevator and it is on second floor (I did not count the steps). What a beautiful place. Agency and Representatives (and price)I cannot rave enough about the staff and owners of Dimora Veneziana; when we had problems with our first apartment they were attentive and got workmen to do repairs. When the air conditioning in our original apartment could not be quickly fixed, the agency offered to move us to an equal or better apartment of theirs without cost. They all spoke English and we never had any problems contacting staff. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would stay here again and would recommend this apartment to friends. Things to do in this areaLots of great restaurants on both sides of the Grand Canal; will submit separately. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
