Review 2840: Le Manzinaie, Apartment

Review by Nina from US

apartments on an estate near Montepulciano, Tuscany South

May 31- June 3, 2007, 3 days

Le Manzinaie is a wonderfully restored farm villa perfectly located near Montepulciano and Pienza. With four apartments, which have been beautifully decorated it serves as the perfect home base for travel within Tuscany and Umbria. The owners have gone to great lengths to make each apartment a haven for their guests. They are a wonderful, attentive family who make everyone feel welcome and at home. I highly recommend Le Manzinaie for anyone visiting this region. You will not be disappointed!

Nearby Amenities

It would be necessary to drive but stores and restaurants were within a few kilometers of Le Manzinaie. The hosts graciously provide some groceries for guests upon their arrival.

The House/Apartment

The main building itself was old, made of stone, and beautifully restored. There were four apartments, all fully equipped with stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, T.V., table, chairs and sofa. The bathrooms were equipped with both a shower and jacuzzi tub. All were beautifully decorated and each had hand painted murals of Tuscan scenes done by the owners. Each apartment had either one or two bedrooms and a separate kitchen/dining area plus full sized bathroom. The house, apartments, grounds, pool, everything were beautiful and lovingly maintained and were a restful haven for weary travelers.

There were several outdoor areas to gather and to sit. The expansive garden and lawn area were immaculate as was the adjacent pool, which was equipped with numerous lounge chairs.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Everything from the floor to the beds, sofa, chairs and table were comfortable, in good taste and fit the decor perfectly.

The bathrooms were immaculate as was everything else here. The sinks were large with plenty of counter space, beautiful modern jacuzzi tub, soft thick linens and beautifully stenciled walls.

It was small but perfectly appointed and yes, we were able to cook a few meals with ease due to the large variety of cooking utensils, dishes, and pots and pans. Olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper as well as bread and other staples were provided.

Problems or Bonuses

It was one of the most pleasant surprises of our month-long Tuscan holiday. We can't say enough good things about Le Manzinaie, especially our hosts. They are exceptional people who run their business with love and pride and make every one of their guests feel like family.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Yes, some English was spoken by the hosts, but their adult daughter spoke rather fluently and did most of the translating, but it was not difficult to communicate with them. The pictures published don't do Le Manzinaie justice! It is even prettier than the photos.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I plan most definitely staying here again and soon. In fact, it is the only place I will need for most of my future exploring of Tuscany and Umbria. My friend and I plan on bringing our families back with us next time for a much longer stay. It is well worth the money! And it's a great place if you have young children. The hosts love them!

Things to do in this area

We drove through the Tuscan countryside and visited numerous ancient walled cities such as Montalcino, Montepulciano and Pienza. We tried to stay away from the tourist trap type restaurants and ate at small cafes where the locals ate, or bought our own food to cook in the apartment.
