Review 2856: Residenza Giubbonari, Yellow Apartment

Review by brsketch from CA

3bed/2bath apartment near Campo dei Fiori, Rome

April, 2006, 1 Week

This apartment is in the perfect location in central historic Rome. It is just down the block from Campo dei Fiori on a pedestrian street. The central location was perfect as we walked to Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, The Colosseum, Forum and Trastevere. It is on the fifth floor of the building and there is an elevator.

Nearby Amenities

The grocery store was just around the corner a short walk away. It had everything we needed. There were also pastry places & a bakery a few buildings away. And of course Campo dei Fiori is just a short block away for fruits and vegetables. There was also an Internet cafe a couple short blocks away.

The House/Apartment

The building is historical as it dates back to Medieval times and it sits on the walls of the old Theatre of Pompey. The Yellow Apartment was just refurbished before we got there so everything was literally brand new. The furniture was new & everything was very clean. The owner also has three other apartments in the same building, although the Yellow apartment is the largest and the only one with a terrace. In fact it has two. It was quiet as it was on the top floor. We heard no street noise during the night.

This apartment has two terraces! One on the main floor that is quite large with a table & chairs for six, where we had our breakfast every morning. And it has beautiful views of the nearby domes and rooftops. The second floor of this apartment also has a smaller terrace. It faces in a different direction & you can see the dome of St. Peter's in the distance. We would sit on this terrace at night and could see St. Peter's dome lit up.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was in great shape, again as everything was new. The couches and chairs were comfortable and there was plenty of space for everything. The dining room table has seats for six and there is a hall closet and plenty of storage under the stairway.

The beds were comfortable and the bedrooms were very nice. There are two bedrooms on the main floor. One with a queen bed and the other has two twins. The bedroom on the top floor of this apartment is small and basically has just a bed, but it was the bed everyone wanted as it had its own terrace.

The kitchen was very serviceable and we used it a couple times a day. It had everything we needed and everything seemed in good quality. We cooked full dinners almost every evening and had no problems.

Problems or Bonuses

The best surprise of all was walking into the apartment for the first time and seeing how clean and large it was and the beautiful views out of the windows that became even greater as we stepped out onto the terrace. The other surprise was how great the location was, especially as we went out for our first walk to the grocery store, and the next morning as we walked to the Forum and realized how close it was.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Our contact at the apartment was Cristina. She was at the apartment when we got there. She spoke very good English and was able to answer all our questions. She answered all of my e-mails before we left for Rome very quickly. Feel free to e-mail her as she will get right back to you.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would recommend this apartment to everyone. You won't be disappointed by the location, the views or the cleanliness of the apartment. In fact we have reserved the same apartment for next year.

Things to do in this area

You can just about walk anywhere from this apartment and we did. We even walked to the Vatican one way, the Spanish Steps the other way and down to the Colosseum the other way. It is very centrally located and is in the heart of the old historical Rome.
