Apartment La Piazza is above Piazza Motta in the centre of Orta San Giulio with views to the Island and the lake. There are plenty of restaurants and alimentari stores close by.

Although the apartment was above a restaurant we were not bothered by any excessive noise. The two windows facing the Piazza and Isola San Giulio are double glazed and shuttered.

The Saturday we arrived there were several weddings being celebrated in Orta and parking was difficult until we rang Hotel Olina to find out where to park our car. We were allowed to drive into Piazza Motta to drop off our luggage and then had to take our car back up the hill to the Hotel's free car park. This is about a 20 minute walk from Piazza Motta. If you arrive or depart on a Wednesday you CANNOT drive into Piazza Motta because of the market.

The apartment was very clean, kitchen space is not large but we managed to cook a full meal. There are adequate kitchen utensils for this purpose. (although we did request a chopping board and more tea towels, which were promptly delivered to our door).

There is a separate bedroom with a very good queen bed, which we used and an extra double (divan) in the living area. The main bedroom is at the back of the apartment so is away from the living area. We could hear some slight noise from the restaurant kitchen below.

The bathroom/toilet is modern with a large corner bath and double basin. Plenty of towels etc with excellent lighting.

The Hotel Olina and their staff speak English and were very helpful and friendly. We dined one night at Ristoro Olina and had a delightful meal and wonderful service.

One of the problems was having to park the car so far away from the apartment, although there is a little motorised train to take up or down the hill for a small charge. We didn't mind the walk but for two days while we were there it rained a lot. There was paid parking closer but still quite a distance from the apartment. One other problem was although there were alimentari stores, there are no butchers to buy fresh meat.

We would definitely recommend this apartment. The view from the two front windows to Isola San Giulio and the lake is stunning.
