5bed/4bath house near Porto Santo Stephano, Tuscany East WhenJune 23 2007, 1 week LocationBeautifully decorated house with lovely pool and patio area. It was located close to the city of Santo Stephano and Orbetello. The house was as lovely as the pictures on the websites. We ate dinner under the grape arbor every night. Plenty of room for adults and children. Well maintained and clean. I would recommend and stay here again. Beautiful sea views from the house. Nearby AmenitiesHad to drive for groceries and other amenities which was somewhat challenging in the city of Santo Stephano, limited parking and challenging roadways. But the house was worth this hassle. We shopped in Orbetello, which had easy parking but was further away. The House/ApartmentThe house was very quiet and not too close to other houses. The house was basically a ranch style with three bedrooms on one floor. At one end of the house, you had to walk up a set of stairs to access a twin bedroom. The other bedroom was located outside down a set of stairs with its own entrance and bath. GardenBeautiful grape arbor with sitting for 12. The pool area had a bar, with refrigerator, and sink and umbrella. There were comfortable chairs for sitting around the pool. Lovely areas to hang out in. There was a small yard for the kids to play soccer in. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe house was decorated very nicely, and it was very clean. There were plenty of chairs for everyone. Bedrooms/BathroomsSome said that the beds were too hard. I found the master bedroom beds comfortable. KitchenKitchen had everything we needed for cooking and was well equipped. Problems or BonusesOnly surprise was that we could not drink the water because it was stored in metal tanks. This meant that we had to buy more bottles of drinking water then planned, a potential problem on the weekend. We were told that we should use bottle water for cooking also. House did not have air conditioning; this was not an issue except for one night when it was especially sticky. Agency and Representatives (and price)The on site person did not speak English though I was led to believe that they would. The reality of the house reflected what was published in the website. The agency was not the most responsive (i.e. took sometime in getting back with regards to money transfers) but we had no problems. Phone calls were answered and advice offered when I asked. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would stay here and I would recommend it to anyone. It was absolutely beautiful. Better then I could have imagined. I was very concerned with renting over the Internet and since this company was not mentioned in SlowTrav I was even more concerned. However, everything was terrific. This is why I am writing this review, hopefully, to alleviate concerns that others might have when working on booking a house.
