Review 2926: Casa Nova La Ripintura, Apartment

Review by Bluewren from Austrlia

farmhouses and apartment on a farm, Tuscany Chianti

9th, 10th, & 11th May 2007, 3 nights

The villa where the apartment is located is surrounded by vines and is situated on a wine and olive farm on the outskirts of Greve. It is only a 10 minute walk to the centre of town where there are lots of restaurants, wine shops, a supermarket and post office available.

The apartment which is on two levels is a separate part of a villa in which the owners live. It comprises a rustic kitchen which includes cook top, large refrigerator, cooking utensils etc. Most of the pots and pans were fairly old but usable as we did cook meals. We did request several carving knifes and they were promptly delivered. The kitchen area has a large open fire place and a small area where the sink is situated. It has a table and chairs and one lounge chair.

Also on the ground floor is a small laundry room with a washing machine and trough. The bathroom is modern with a shower and plenty of towels.

A steep staircase leads to the top floor which contains a double bedroom and one other large room which has twin beds and a dining setting. We slept in the twin beds as they appeared to be firmer than the double bed. Both levels have windows with shutters. There was more natural light in the large room up stairs as it had windows on two sides.

Outside the main entrance door is a paved area with an outdoor setting. The rear door of the main house was quite close but we only saw the owners occasionally. Parking is adjacent to the villa.

We were a little confused on arrival as to where to go when checking in. We had to drive to the main house (Casa Nova) to check in and then we were directed to the apartment which 500 metres closer to Greve. The owners also have a B&B at the main house but we did not see the rooms at this property.

The owner speaks English. The apartment was very clean and the area was very quiet. We consider this property to be good value for the price.
