2bed/2bath apartment near Colosseum, Rome WhenJune 2007, 7 days LocationThe lovely apartment was in ancient Rome, about a 10 minute walk from the Colosseum. It was on a street that included restaurants, an Internet cafe, gelato shops, a little market, a church, bus stop, etc. We felt very safe there. Nearby AmenitiesWithin walking distance to food shops, fruit stands, coffee shops, bus stops, metro stops, taxi stands. No need for a car. The House/ApartmentThis apartment was recently renovated. The street is lively, but we were there in summer so had the air conditioning on until midnight,(at the owners request) so our windows were shut, which made the rooms very quiet. We had been told to get an apartment in Piazza Navona, but after visiting there we were glad we were staying in a less touristy area. GardenThere is a courtyard in the back that is shared by other residents. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe apartment was so clean and very accommodating for our family of four. The only meal we ate there was breakfast, but that was by our choice. The living area was small, but it was lovely, clean and comfortable. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds were very firm, which we loved! There was plenty of storage in the bedrooms. The rooms were large and bright. The windows were new and blocked out street noise. The bathrooms were small, but we loved the fact that there were two. They are very updated. Had no problem with water pressure or hot water. Plenty of towels were provided.
KitchenThere were plenty of dishes and utensils. The owners had supplied coffee, biscuits, sugar, jelly, etc. Problems or BonusesThe charming owners gave us a cell phone to use as well as their home number in case we had any issues. This was very kind of them and also comforting to us while traveling in a new place. The apartment was perfect for us; we loved the location, we loved feeling like locals rather than tourists. There is a supply of maps, restaurant recommendations and menus and various other info helpful to travelers staying in the apartment. When Walter, the owner, met us there, he spent quite a bit of time with me going over the map, giving me local information, etc. Agency and Representatives (and price)This is done directly through the owners, Walter and Natalia. Natalia was very prompt in answering my questions via email. We sent a deposit to a bank in the states and then paid the remainder in cash upon arrival. I felt the price was very fair. The owners were so nice, very professional and very welcoming. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Yes, I would stay here again and would highly recommend it! Things to do in this areaLots to do in the area. The Colosseum is just down the street. We loved getting a gelato after dinner and walking down to the Colosseum or Palatine Hill. On the other end of the street is San Giovanni square and church. There is also another church across the street where we went for Sunday Mass. The metros, buses and taxis are easily accessible and can take you anywhere. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
