Review by Mark from AZ

5bed/5bath villa near Greve, Tuscany Chianti

June 2001, 1 week

The villa is located in the small town of Greve on the top of a hill. It is a private location surrounded by grape vines and cherry trees. A very quiet and peaceful home and a just a short drive or 20 minute walk to town.

Nearby Amenities

You can walk to town for groceries, but it is best to drive the 10 minutes due to the fact that the walk back is all up hill. There are several restaurants in town, many shops, a beautiful church, and an internet cafe.

The House/Apartment

There is a main apartment with an adjacent wing. They are only rented combined and to one party. It is nicely decorated, in very nice shape. Beds are comfortable.

In the main apartment is a full kitchen, dining table that seats 10, 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. In the adjacent wing are 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. There is an additional bath in the bathhouse outside as well as a washer/dryer, ironing board.

There is a beautiful private swimming pool with several lounge chairs. There is an outdoor BBQ grill with a table that will seat 6 or 8. A rose garden is outside as well as grape vineyards and cherry trees.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The apartment was very clean and all appliance were in working condition. Plenty of furniture and very comfortable.

The beds were very comfortable and the bedrooms nicely decorated. There was ample closet space. All bathrooms had a shower, some had tub/shower. There were only 4 couples so we each had our own bath and bedroom. If 5 couples rent the villa, two of the couples would have to share a bath in the adjacent wing. The fifth bathroom is outside in the bathhouse. There is also a shower in there.

There were plenty of pots, pans, silverware, etc. We cooked full meals in the kitchen on several occasions.

Problems or Bonuses

Not really a problem, but it should be mentioned that you will need a car to get to this villa. The road to the villa is a little rocky and narrow. We rented a VW Passat and had no problems.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The place was better than described. We booked through Parker and had no problems whatsoever. The onsite person did not speak English but we made do. It wasn't a problem and he always seemed to know what we wanted.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

We loved this place, so much so that we are planning on staying here again in 2003. A very enjoyable experience.

Things to do in this area

Sunday is market day in the square. A great way to spend the morning/afternoon. We only ate at a couple of restaurants in the town of Greve and both of them were very good. Sorry I don't remember their names.
