3bed/2 bath house near Meta di Sorrento, Campania WhenJuly 2002, one week LocationThe house is in the rock hillside overlooking the beach and coastline of the amalfi coast in the city of Meta di Sorrento which is 10 minutes from Sorrento by train. The house is very comfortable and the owner, who lives next door, is quite nice. He left us watermelon and other treats every day. It is close to other buildings but still quite private. The view over the coast and out to the sea is quite nice and the house faces west so that you have nice sunsets. Large cruise ships go to Sorrento and it is fun to see them that close to shore. The area was intersting but not great. Nearby AmenitiesEverything is within walking distance including a small bar that has a terminal for internet access. We did not have a car and did not need one. The bus stop is very close and the train station is a 15 minute walk. There are several restaurants within one minute of the house. The House/ApartmentThe house is built into the rock wall overlooking the beach. It is comfortable and cooler than the surrounding area but not as cool as say a cave. It is not a cave but is a house dug into the side of the hill. GardenThere is no garden but you can watch people all day going up and down the stairs to and from the beach. No pool the beach is right there. The balcony is nice for sitting and relaxing and watching the sunset. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furnishing are in good condition and comfortable. The house was clean and tidy. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds were comfortable. The bedroom was fine. The bathroom was fine. KitchenThe kitchen was small but fine however there were no large knives for say cutting watermelon and there weren't many dishes but I am sure if we would have asked the owner would have provided us with anything we needed. Problems or BonusesThe surprise was the surprises left for us each day by the owner - watermelon, cake, etc. Agency and Representatives (and price)The agency was fine. Good and quick communication. The agency speaks english but the owner doesn't. The owner speaks a bit of French though. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I recommend the house. Things to do in this areaThe restaurant just across the road (Gisoue, I believe) was one of the better ones around. Activities are the usual for this type of area. Walking and beach.
