2bed/1bath apartment in Trastevere, Rome WhenApril 2007, 1 week Nearby AmenitiesThe apartment is very convenient to shopping, restaurants, cafes, public transport. The House/ApartmentThe apartment itself is in good shape. The apartment is pretty quiet during the day but not quiet enough at night. There is a lot of parking around the apartment and we were woken up by people talking rather loudly late at night/early morning as they have a prolonged goodbyes, conversations etc. GardenThere is a garden but no seating area. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe apartment is nice enough but lacking in some conveniences that we have gotten used to – no microwave, no electric kettle, the regular oven was out of order until Wednesday and the stove wouldn’t light up. My tired husband woke up at 3am the first morning wanting some tea but with no means of heating water. I figured out why the next day – the main gas switch was turned off. The owner did not show us how to operate anything and I was too tired to think to ask until after she left. (She seemed to be in a hurry to go, our flight was an hour late.) I couldn’t call since our cell phone was not activated yet. There is no telephone and no Internet connection in the apartment. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bed was comfortable enough. There was no hot water in the in the bathroom sink and bidet when we got there. This problem was fixed by mid-week. However, I found out the following morning that the hot water disappeared in the shower instead. Brrrrrr!?!!! The only mirror is over the bathroom sink (it’s hard to put any makeup on because it’s so far away, counter is 26 inches wide), the bathroom counter/sink is so high (40 inches). I had to tiptoe to wash my face or brush my teeth (I'm 5'2"). KitchenI made do with the kitchen - cooked meals there. Problems or BonusesAlthough this apartment is okay, we will probably not come back. I was disappointed after the raving review here. I actually cancelled a reservation with Sleep in Italy, forfeiting our deposit, for this apartment. Agency and Representatives (and price)Paula was very nice but in a hurry when we arrived - granted our plane was an hour late. Hence some of our difficulties. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Probably not. Things to do in this areaPlenty - after all it's Rome! This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
