1bed/1bath apartment near San Lorenzo, Florence When2007, 5 nights LocationThe apartment is located on Via Borgo San Lorenzo, just up from the San Lorenzo market and a street over from the Baptistery. It is in a building where the owner has several apartments for rent. The area is very lively and quite loud, but close the windows and the shutters and it is pretty quiet. Nearby AmenitiesYou could walk everywhere. The location is very convenient. It's a short walk from the train station. There is a small grocery store down the street. Even though it is small, it has most all you could want, including a deli and bakery. The House/ApartmentThe apartment sits on a street with many restaurants and shops. It is very noisy with the windows open, but is pretty quiet when the windows and shutters are closed. It was hot while we were there, so we had the air conditioner running the whole time also which helped cut out the outside noise. You have to walk up four flights of stairs to get to the apartment. For that reason I would not recommend this apartment to anyone who cannot climb stairs easily. The apartment is in good shape. The layout is very nice with a large room on the main level, containing the living, dining, and kitchen areas. The living area has a futon couch and a chair. The dining table seats four. There is also a small room off the kitchen containing a washing machine. On the edge of the room is an open staircase that leads to a loft bedroom, bath, and large walk-in closet. GardenThere is no outside area. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furnishings were in fine shape. The apartment was clean. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bed was comfortable. There was a huge walk-in closet that was very useful. The bathroom was adequate, although the shower was tiny. KitchenThe kitchen was usable, and I cooked several meals there. It would have been helpful to have a saucepan though, only had skillets. Problems or BonusesIt would have been nice to have a larger starting supply of paper items. There was plenty of toilet paper for the entire stay, and laundry detergent was provided, but there were no paper towels, napkins, or trash sacks provided. Agency and Representatives (and price)The owner and representative who met us were helpful, and I believe they both speak English. The photos shown of the apartment were accurate. It was listed on the web site that there was a microwave oven, but I didn't see one. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would stay here again. There were some things about the apartment that I think could have been better (like providing a few trash bags, a roll of paper towels, etc.). But the location was very good, and made for a convenient place to come back to for a rest during the day. If it were a time of year when I was not running the air conditioner and had to have the windows open, I would not stay here though because it would be too noisy. Things to do in this areaVery convenient location. Close to the Duomo, Baptistery, San Lorenzo church, Mercata Centrale, etc. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
