1bed/1bath apartment near Lucca, Tuscany North Whenstarting 10/30/07, 3 weeks LocationSerena is located in a close-in residential suburb of Lucca, a 10 to 15 minute walk from the city walls. Nearby AmenitiesCarrefour, a gigantic "hypermarket" with a huge variety of groceries, clothing, sundries, household goods, etc, is a seven-minute walk. Within a five minute walk are coffee bars, laundry, Internet point, pizza restaurant, pastry shop, pharmacy, tabacchi, others. The main bus line into town with buses running every 10 minutes is a half block away. The House/ApartmentSerena is on the third floor of a four-story apartment building with two apartments per floor. The building is fairly new and the apartment is recently remodeled and in very good condition. There is a master bedroom and bath, a modern kitchen, and spacious living room with a small balcony. The apartment has high speed Internet with WiFi, which worked excellently. The neighborhood is very quiet with much less traffic noise than one finds in the historic center of Lucca. There is ample space to park a car. You can view the apartment directly: Serena. GardenThe balcony has room for two to sit comfortably, with a nice view of the mountains surrounding Lucca. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThere are two desks in the living room, a very nice TV with satellite, a nice sofa and chairs. The apartment was very clean. Lots of light comes into the apartment. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bed in the master bedroom was extremely comfortable. The bathroom is recently remodeled, modern and comfortable with shower and bidet. KitchenThere was a full range of pots and pans, a modern ceramic cook-top stove, modern refrigerator, and a toaster oven. There was no microwave. The kitchen was very good for cooking full meals. Problems or BonusesAlthough the apartment has good heating, which was turned on all the time, the typical Italian tile floors do get cold in the winter (I rented in November), and the bedroom tended to get very cold at night when the outside temperature dropped below 40. The bed did have a warm comforter however. Agency and Representatives (and price)The owner is American and extremely gracious and willing to provide information and advice about the area. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I wholeheartedly recommend this apartment. In particular the WiFi Internet access makes it a fabulous place to be able to combine work with vacationing if desired. Also it is not necessary to have a car when staying here, and the area is quiet. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
