apartments on estate near Montepulciano, Tuscany South WhenOctober 27 2007 to November 5, 2007, 10 days LocationA pretty country setting, within three to four km of two small villages and easily accessible from main highways. Our villa was a separate house, set in gardens and close to the main house, but also private. The area was wonderful. Close to two small villages or towns for grocery or wine shopping and easily accessible to all the major sights. Nearby AmenitiesNearest grocery store and restaurants were three to four km away, you could walk if so inclined, or you could drive. Because I am a walker, I did walk to the Coop Store in Aquaviva for groceries and wine, it takes about one hour to walk there and back. The House/ApartmentThe building was an old kiln for drying tobacco back many years ago and now totally renovated and charming. There was a kitchen and one bedroom with en suite on the main floor and one bedroom with en suite on the first floor. The decor and maintenance of the villa and grounds was exceptionally good. The farm had five rentals in total (I think)in other buildings, but was well laid out so you didn't feel crowded in any way. GardenLovely grounds, with a vegetable garden for guests, orchard, pool, private sitting areas, and lovely approach. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasFurniture and bedding was great. Coming from Canada, I found things like stoves and fridge small but that is the European way. Everything was spotless. Bedrooms/BathroomsBeds were very comfortable. Bedrooms beautifully furnished. Two bathrooms for four people was definitely enough. Bathrooms had all the usual amenities and were spotless. KitchenKitchen was usable with enough pots, pans, and dishes. I cooked full meals in the kitchen, however, being use to a Canadian size kitchen, it did seem small -but definitely did the job. Problems or BonusesThe owners were the best part of the villa, warm, English speaking, totally helpful, full of fun, and there if you needed them. They made to stay extra special. Agency and Representatives (and price)We booked directly on the Internet. There were no surprise, except that the whole situation was better than expected. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Definitely would recommend to anyone who likes a warm welcome, owners that are helpful in making your vacation memorable, and respond to requests with pleasure. We felt very welcome. Things to do in this areaLocated in central Tuscany, we visited Florence, Siena, Montepulciano and other local areas from the villa.
