apartments on an estate outside of Montepulciano, Tuscany South
WhenNovember 7-9th 2007, 3 days LocationMontorio is located on a hilltop overlooking San Biagio & Montepulciano. A wonderful peaceful location ... with incredible views. The apartments are very private. We loved the area and can't wait to return! Nearby AmenitiesGoing downhill to the grocery store approximately 1/4 would be fine but the uphill homeward bound return would have been a tough one. We had a car so everything was very convenient. Our visit was in November & the little pizzeria, downhill, was closed. The snack shop was open but had dried out sandwiches and pizza from the ice age. One night we went to La Grotta for dinner (great). It's approximately 1/2 mile from the apartment. We found that having a large midday meal was the way to go. In the evening we fixed a light meal at the apartment with plenty of wine. The House/ApartmentTh property is wonderful! The apartment was very comfortable all the little details and necessities were provided. On our arrival Stephanie had stocked our little kitchen with enough foodie items for breakfast for a couple of days. There are five apartments for rent; we rented the largest, Antonio da Sangallo. The Montorio website provides layouts of all the apartments and also has several images.
GardenThere are several areas on the property for outside seating and the view from the hammock is marvelous! Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasImmaculate. I repeat immaculate. Extremely comfortable, spacious, a real treat! Bedrooms/BathroomsBeds were large and very comfortable, bedside lamps, cozy linens. Updated modern bathroom. KitchenKitchen was spacious and had everything we needed to cook a regimental meal. A dishwasher was included. The laundry room was at the foot of our staircase. Problems or BonusesIt was so marvelous; we can't wait to return. Agency and Representatives (and price)Booked directly with the manager, Stephanie (owner?). Very responsive and personable! We paid €110 per night for the apartment. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Absolutely!! Things to do in this areaWe had a very nice meal at La Grotta. A lovely lunch at Taverna dei Barbi on the Barbi estate. Osteria La Porta in Monticchiello was wonderful. See my blog for more details.
