apartments on an estate near Montepulciano, Tuscany South

When

19 December 2007, 10 days

Location

Sant'Antonio is located just outside the hill town of Montepulciano in amazing countryside. The location is fantastic. Within an hour to Siena, Arezzo, Montalcino, Pienza, Cortona and around/under two hours to Rome, Florence, Perugia, Assisi, San Gimignano, Monteriggioni. The property is very private. The area is absolutely beautiful. You open you windows in the morning to beautiful Tuscan hills and olive fields.

Nearby Amenities

You must drive to get groceries or a coffee, but not very far, about five minutes.

The House/Apartment

The building is historical. The owners have spent the last few years doing up the place so it is in very good condition. The apartment was extremely peaceful. You felt like you were the only ones around, only when you returned your apartment was clean and the fire all set up ready for you to light. Sant' Antonio is an estate with 13 apartments of different sizes.

Garden

There is a beautiful garden setting, with outdoor BBQs, swimming pool and wonderful views. It is shared.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was in good shape, some of it beautiful antiques. The apartment was very clean and there were plenty of chairs in both the living and dining room.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The bed was huge and very comfortable. The bathroom was also huge with a big oval bath and separate shower.

Kitchen

The kitchen was great, well stocked with pans and cutlery, dishes etc. They were all of good quality. I enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, actually I cooked in there everyday and most of our dinners.

Problems or Bonuses

It was always a nice to surprise to come home after a day out in beautiful Tuscany, to find the fire all set up and ready for us to light. Which was wonderful because it was very cold - beautiful and sunny - but very cold in December.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The manager Nico is fantastic. He speaks five languages (English one of them). I think the reality is better than the published information, because you can't show how it makes you feel on the website. The price we paid was excellent for the property, really good value for money.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would stay here again definitely. Actually we are planning to go back in late April. It is such a beautiful property, it makes you think this is how life should be lived. I would recommend it to anyone I know or meet. They wouldn't be disappointed. Sant'Antonio has everything you want, beauty, great service, value for money, romantic fire places, in the centre of beautiful Tuscany with amazing towns and sites to visit.

Things to do in this area

We went to a different town everyday. We went to Florence, San Gimignano - definitely climb the tower, scary but amazing views, Siena - again climb up the tower ... amazing town, Monteriggioni, have lunch at Osteria Pozzo, Montalcino - amazing views, find the local lady who makes jewelery, Assisi - my favourite town...just amazing. Perugia, for a bigger town. Drive from Sant'Antonio to Pienza ... the most amazing countryside. We tend to use guide books or recommendations from Sant'Antonio for restaurants and they are always good.
