Review 3269: Venice Rentals, Corte Coppo San Marco
4bed/3bath apartment in San Marco, Venice
July 2007, 6 days
The Corte Coppo apartment is in a fantastic location, tucked away in a quiet courtyard, but just a 3-5 minute walk to Piazza San Marco. We had a canal view and enjoyed the gondoliers as they went under our window.
There was a fantastic cafe with great pastries just one minute from the apartment which we enjoyed every morning. Of course, all the bars and cafes of Piazza San Marco are just five minutes away.
Within a five-minute walk we had access a pharmacy, bakery, fruit and vegetable market, deli, and butcher. The butcher was only open until 1pm so we had to plan ahead.
The nearest grocery store was Coop at a 20 minute walk. There were many restaurants in the area.
The Corte Coppo apartment is in a historic building on the second floor (Italian designation) and takes up this entire level. There are two apartments on the first floor. The ground floor contains some storage and an entrance onto the canal, though we were told the canal entrance has not been used in a couple of years due to some water damage to the door. The first floor exterior and interior have not been significantly renovated.
The apartment itself is in pristine condition. There is lots of light from large windows. The color tones are soothing with lots of soft yellow, blue, and cream.
During our visit, the apartment was absolutely quiet. The courtyard had a restaurant that set up a few tables only in the evening, but this was also very quiet.
The apartment has a pretty terrace with a wrought iron table and chairs. The terrace is private to the apartment, but windows from the neighboring building look onto the terrace.
The apartment is furnished most with antiques. The furnishings were in great condition. There were two dining tables with a total of 10 chairs. We could comfortable seat our family group of seven at the main table.
The beds were comfortable. As is typically the case, the double beds were two twins pushed together.
There was lots of storage with dressers and armoires for clothing. The bathrooms are newly renovated and beautiful. I believe two of the bathrooms had showers, and the master bath had a tub with a shower attachment.
The kitchen was functional, with a four-burner stove and all the basic necessities. There are ample pots and pans, cutlery and dishes in good to excellent condition. We cooked many dinners for our group of seven in the kitchen.
Problems or Bonuses
We just loved the location. It is any easy walk to both the Rialto Bridge, and Piazza San Marco, yet when we turned into our courtyard, it's like we had left the city behind.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
Denise at Venice Rentals is fantastic. Denise actually lives half the year in Boston, and goes to Venice during the peak travel months. She met us at the apartment, then took the time take me on a walk of the area. We visited several shops, and she introduced me to the shop-owners. It was really wonderful.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
I absolutely recommend this rental. We would love to return and stay her again.
Things to do in this area
The apartment is close to all the major sites in San Marco.
