2bed/2bath apartment in Cannaregio, Venice

Dec 22-25, 2007, 4 nights

Location

Nice location - 15 minute walk from San Marco square, 10 minutes from train station, reasonably quiet area. Second floor of a quiet apartment close to bridge and piazza which accounted for pedestrian noises as apartment is corner unit.

Nearby Amenities

Walking distance to everything, but watch the opening hours so you aren't left hungry.

The House/Apartment

Older building. Good size rooms. Lots of noise from pedestrian traffic, so light sleepers should use ear plugs, but this is probably a problem in all Venice apartments that face onto bridges or piazzas.

Garden

None.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Furniture in good shape, unit was clean. Enough chairs. Well equipped kitchen. Bathroom had a shower but no shower curtain (I have advised owners).

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

Everything comfortable, bathroom good size, lots of storage. No TV.

Kitchen

Well equipped kitchen for cooking full meals.

Problems or Bonuses

Noise from street and bridge so used ear plugs.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Met owner in shop downstairs of apartment, helpful, spoke English. Apartment met expectations of description on Internet.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Yes - but always best to book early to get best deals in Venice!

Things to do in this area

All shops, restaurants small butcher, bakery, grocery etc. much cheaper than in more touristy areas of Venice. Not all store owners spoke English so best to know a little Italian if you have specific needs.
