2bed/2bath apartment near Colosseum, Rome

When

January 2008, 5 nights

Location

Located in the heart of Rome, yet still with a private feel. The neighborhood felt very safe and offered many conveniences.

Nearby Amenities

The apartment was ideally located approximately three blocks from the Colosseum. It was easy walking distance to many sites and on a bus line. Close to restaurants, grocery stores, markets and three blocks to the subway.

The House/Apartment

The apartment was located on the second floor of a nicely maintained building. Even though it was on a busy road, there was not much noise from the outside or from the other apartments.

Garden

There is a shared central courtyard that they kitchen window overlooks. It would be a nice private location to enjoy a glass of wine or morning coffee.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The apartment was adequately furnished for our group of four. We did not spend much time together in the communal space other than for a quick breakfast. The furnishings were comfortable and in nice condition.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The bedrooms were extremely spacious with comfortable beds and bedding. Spacious closets and storage options were greatly appreciated. The bathrooms were very clean. The showers are minimally sized compared to standard US showers but had great water pressure and heat control.

Kitchen

We enjoyed our quick breakfasts in the kitchen but did not do any in-depth cooking. It was adequate for our needs with a small fridge, a two-burner cook-top and cabinet space for groceries. There were "welcome" groceries and coffee for us to enjoy.

Problems or Bonuses

Great sleeping with double windows and lighting blocking shutters. Even though the apartment is located on a busier street, it was perfectly quiet day and night. The owners provided us with a cell phone to touch base with them while in Rome. A great touch!

Agency and Representatives (and price)

One of the reasons we chose this apartment was the responsiveness of the owners to our questions. They were very thorough with providing requested information before our arrival. Upon arrival, we were greeted at the apartment by the owners who gave us fabulous information about sites around the apartment and the Rome area. They spent time acclimating us to the apartment and making us feel very welcome.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would definitely recommend this apartment not only for its location, condition, owner responsiveness but also because it gave us a sense of living in the heart of Rome. It was a welcome retreat at the end of our long sightseeing days!

Things to do in this area

The owners provided us with in depth restaurant suggestions. They were all right on! We enjoyed the street market for fruits and veggies and also utilized the grocery store for breakfast items and snacks.
