Review 3349: Dolce Roma, Roman Forum

Review by Noreen from Ireland

studio apartment in Monti, Rome

February 2008, 6 nights

The location was in the heart of the Roman Forum, close to the Colosseum. The property is on a side street, which is busy enough but you hear absolutely no noise in the apartment. Loved the area, it has so much to offer with loads of good restaurants close by.

Nearby Amenities

Metro station almost outside the door. Elite grocery store up the steps of metro and cross the street so convenient. Restaurants less than 100 metres from the apartment.

The House/Apartment

The building is in very good order and the apartment was very quiet and peaceful the apartment has a small kitchen area with table and chairs, small bathroom with shower, double bedroom with ample storage, couch and coffee table in sitting room area. The apartment is totally open plan with a lovely designed sliding door to separate bedroom from rest of apartment if you like. The apartment has a small loft area where there is a single mattress so another person could stay but apartment is ideally suited for a couple. Couch also pulls out to make another bed but it would be very crowded I feel with anymore than three people.

No pool, no outside sitting area, a small balcony that looked out on a courtyard with trees, shrubs etc.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Furniture in excellent shape very comfortable, very clean, with enough chairs etc. for the two of us.

Bed was comfortable and bedroom lovely, one bathroom sufficient for two people and the bathroom is nicely decorated and very clean and loads of clean towels.

Kitchen was perfectly functional with sufficient pots, pans utensils of good quality and there was no problem cooking breakfast in the kitchen. We did not cook any other meals but there was a microwave, two ring cooker with kettle, toaster, iron etc.

Problems or Bonuses

Bread. milk, butter in fridge with marmalade/jams etc., coffee, salt, pepper, sugar etc. in the presses. It was great because on arrival you could have a cup of coffee and a light snack without having to go looking for a shop immediately.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Natalia & Walter in Dolce Roma are amazing, they miss out on nothing, they organised taxis to pick us up at the airport and they met us in the apartment on arrival and they spoke very good English and gave loads of helpful information in relation to the area, restaurants and sites to see in Rome. The apartment is stocked with a basket of maps and tour guides, things to do, places to see, to eat etc. Fantastic. We paid 576 for six nights, this was with a 10% discount for February and 10% discount because I was a return visitor. The reality of this apartment surpassed what we expected. Fabulous apartment and location.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Yes, I would absolute recommend this apartment and I will stay here again. I had stayed in Walter & Natalia's apartment near the Campo Di Fiori and was looking to stay there again but it was occupied, I was hesitant about staying in a different area/location in Rome but Via Leonina is fabulous and the area is so convenient for all tourist attractions (Vatican a bit far 45 minute walk but 117 bus brings you directly there). We walked everywhere, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, Vatican, Colosseum and Roman Forum on your doorstep.

Things to do in this area

Visited Colosseum, Roman Forum, Victor Emanuel.

Best Restaurant close by La Vecchia Trattoria on Via Del Boschetto and La Vecchia Roma on Via Leonina, both very reasonably priced and excellent atmosphere and food.

Gina near Spanish Steps on Via San Sebastianello, you have got to visit.
