Vacation rentals in Italy (villas, farms, estates, agriturismo, apartments)
Review 335: Ville In Italia, Punta Reginella
4bed/2bath apartment in Positano, Campania
August 17-24, 2002, one week
The villa is located in the heart of Positano, one of the larger towns on the Amalfi Coast. The villa has a spacious patio with a fantastic panoramic view of the coastline. The villa was one of a number in a building situated above the main road in Positano, and above a restaurant. So although it wasn't "quiet", we had no problem falling asleep at night to the sounds of music playing from the restaurant below.
Restaurants, grocery stores and shops are plentiful and nearby.
The building was in very good shape, clean and well maintained. There appeared to be three to four villas/apartments in the building
The terrace is spacious with plenty of seating and a large umbrella that provided shade. The terrace is private. No access to a pool. Lots and lots of flowers and greenery on the terrace and throughout the villa.
The furnishings were comfortable. The villa has two television sets, a stereo and a VCR.
Both bedrooms are large and have plenty of storage for clothes. There are two bathrooms, both vey clean with showers (no bathtubs). One bathroom has an enclosed shower and the other was open. Each bathroom has its own hot water supply.
The kitchen was spacious and opens into the living/dining area. There are plenty of good quality pots, pans and dishes. A clothes washer is also included and came in very handy. Coffee drinkers may want to bring their own pot, as there was none in the villa. There is also a hair dryer, iron and ironing board provided.
Problems or Bonuses
The property owners, the Pomporo Family, were very gracious and helpful during our stay. They provided wonderful recommendations for shopping, dining and recreation activities. They were also very helpful whenever we had any questions about the villa, the town or anything else in general.
Guests should be prepared for the 335 steps to the beach! Also, parking is at a premium, and those with cars may want to pay for daily parking in a nearby parking garage.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
The agency was very good. They were quick to respond to our questions and made the reservation process very easy. The villa was in fact, prettier and the view more spectacular than the pictures we had seen on the web.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
We would absolutely stay here again, and have already recommended the villa to friends.
Things to do in this area
We highly recommend taking a boat trip with Salvatore and Genarro. They have a rental shop at the pier and provide a much more scenic and comfortable trip to Capri or along the Amalfi Coast than do the larger "tourist" boats. Along the way, lunch is provided at a coastal restaurant and it is a feast not to be missed!
Also, the town of Ravello is scenic and full of history. Lots of great shops and some of the best scenic overlooks along the coast.
