5bed/4bath villa in Castelmuzio, near Pienza, Tuscany South WhenJuly 2002, 1 week LocationThe villa is in the most beautiful, charming Tuscan hilltop town called Castelmuzio. As you walk through the town, each block is more charming than the next and you are greeted with the most spectacular view of Southern Tuscany at every turn. Nearby AmenitiesThe town is very small, so it's just a few minutes walk to the town grocery store, restaurant, staples store, etc... The House/ApartmentThe villa was just lovely! We were welcomed with a spectacular basket full of fresh herbs, just-laid eggs, olive oil from their olive grove, local bread, and wine. The views from the upstairs patio and bedrooms were just spectacular. All the rooms are decorated so beautifully. Each room has special little touches. The armoires are beautiful as are the beds and dressers. I know Mark and Rebecca scoured the Tuscan countryside to find the perfect piece for each room. I couldn't have felt more comfortable. GardenThe garden is just spectacular. The villa is surrounded by olive groves and fruit tree orchards. you can walk down the path and eat fresh apricots, apples and plums right off the trees. A beautiful herb garden of basil and parsley and lavender explodes with color and fragrance. The pool is not to be missed. It is an infinity pool that drops off to a 180-degree panoramic view of Southern Tuscany. You can see the town of Pienza and Santa Anna (the English Patient castle). Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasFabulous, spotless, spectacular. Breathtaking views from the uptstairs windows. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds were very comfortable and the furnishing beautiful and unique. The bathrooms were designed with lots of space and wonderfully huge shower heads that make you feel like you are under a waterfall. KitchenThe kitchen was perfect. It had every pot and pan and gadget you could think of. A wonderful gas stove and ample counter space allowed for some fabulous home-cooked meals. There is also a beautful open hearth fireplace in the kitchen. Problems or BonusesEveything was such a wondful surprise from the minute we got there to the minute we left. Everything far exceeded our expectations. Agency and Representatives (and price)Rebecca and Mark of InTuscany.net are fabulous. I have traveled extensively around the world and they were by far the most gracious hosts I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. They are so knowledgable about Italy, they always had wonderful recommendations about restaurants, excursions, must-sees, and must-dos! I won't use anyone else for any future trips to Italy, they were really the best! Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?OH MY GOODNESS YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! Things to do in this areaWe went on a fabulous hot air balloon ride. When the ballon landed we were treated to a delicious champagne brunch overlooking the Tuscan countryside. Just spectacular. We also went to the Palio in Siena, the fabulous, centuries-old horse race that has maintained the same traditions for centuries.
