Location

Our villa was located on the outskirts of the small town of San Casciano, about 20 minutes outside the town center. The location was breathtaking, with 360 degree views of the incredible countryside. From our 400 foot back terrace, our view was of at least five rows of the Italian Alps reaching towards the sky on the horizon. The property owners make their own wine and olive oil, thus we were literally in the middle of rows of olive groves and grape trees.

The villa is situation right next to another villa on the same property, with a courtyard separating the two. The villa was occupied the same time we were there, but there was no noise issues at all. The next closest villa could not be seen from our location.

We could not have asked for a better location for what we were looking for.

Nearby Amenities

The road to get to the villa was narrow, dirt, and windy. We definitely would not have felt safe walking on the road! The closet mini-mart/grocery store was less than a 10 minute drive. The mini-mart had limited hours and a limited selection to choose from (though staples like wine, cheese, and cured meat were plentiful!). The supermarket was 20 minutes away. The nearest restaurants are about a 15-20 minute drive, in San Casciano. They are ALL WORTH THE DRIVE!!

The House/Apartment

The villa was in pristine condition. It was very peaceful and quiet.

The layout worked nicely for us. There was one entrance, on the side of the villa that entered into a mudroom. A sitting area was adjacent to the mudroom, leading to the living room. The living room had an entrance to the terrace (the living room couch has a perfect view out to the countryside!). The kitchen is to the right of the living room. In between the living room and kitchen is the hallway leading to the bathroom (with jacuzzi) and two bedrooms. One bedroom has another bathroom.

You can view the property directly: S. Ellero.

Garden

The terrace is completely private (the apartment and terrace are on the second floor). It has a nice patio furniture including two lounge chairs and a dining table and chairs.

There is no pool.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture and home were very comfortable and clean.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The beds were VERY comfortable. The bedrooms were HUGE with large armoires for storing your clothing.

Two bathrooms, one with jacuzzi and one with stand up shower. They were very unique with mosaic tiling.

Kitchen

The kitchen was very usable for two people. It would feel too small for more than two people actively be cooking and preparing. There were plenty of dishes, pots, and pans. They were of good enough quality to make some very tasty meals! We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and did make full meals with no issue.

Problems or Bonuses

We could see the sun set from our bedroom window and sun rise from the terrace.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Our agency was wonderful to work with. Gira! was incredibly responsive to our questions, both over the phone and via email. They listened to our top 'must haves' in a villa and gave us plenty of suggestions on where to stay. They KNOW THEIR PROPERTIES incredibly well and we felt completely comfortable (and excited) to book with them.

Our on site person, the homeowner's son, spoke English very well. The homeowners did not speak English but were pleasant to communicate with as we know basic Italian.

The published information was 100% accurate. We ran into no surprises.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

The villa is on the second floor and DOES NOT have handicap access.

We want to go back to this exact villa someday! I want to say that I don't recommend it only because I want to keep it as a hidden jewel for ourselves. If I must say it, then yes, I recommend it (just don't book it for a week that I want to go!).
