Review 3374: Villa Terrazza, Il Faito
Apartments in Sorrento, Campania
February 2008, 5 nights
The building is close to Piazza S. Antonino, in the historical centre of Sorrento.
Easy walking distance distance to train station, bus stops, shops and restaurants in Sorrento, and the harbour. There is a good coffee bar very close by, and the Standa grocery store is a few blocks away. (Next to another good coffee bar/Pasticceria).
Villa Terrazza is a lovely 19th-century villa at the end of a gated driveway, at the top of the cliff overlooking the marina. The building has 10 apartments, five are available for tourists.
Il Faito is a one-bedroom apartment on the second floor with a large private balcony facing the bay. Tile floors, high ceilings and French doors to the terrace from each room. Beautiful views from all rooms, even the bathroom.
You can view the apartment directly: Il Faito.
There is a large tiled outside patio, on the ground floor with small pool, that is accessible to all the suites. Our apartment also had a large private balcony with a table, chairs and other seating.
The views of the harbour and the Bay of Naples are spectacular. It was too cold when we were there to really use the outdoor spaces, but I think if the weather was warm it would be hard to tear yourself away.
The apartment was spacious and bright, nicely furnished with a mix of new upholstered furniture for comfort and nice older pieces for atmosphere. Original art on the walls, mostly paintings of the local scenery.
The apartment was clean when we arrived, and cleaning was provided every other day during our stay.
Bedroom: Big bedroom with a fairly new, comfortable large bed with a down duvet. Chest of drawers, but no wardrobe for hanging clothes. The TV is in the bedroom.
Bathroom: Not large but roomy enough, good shower, and vanity around sink with some shelf space for your things.
Really nice little eat-in kitchen, bright with windows (and views) on two sides. Well equipped including full sized fridge, microwave, dishwasher, electric coffee maker and all the pots, pans and dishes that we needed. Cabinets and appliances are quite new, and there is a small table with four chairs.
Problems or Bonuses
Even though the apartment is in the centre of Sorrento, it was very quiet as the building is slightly removed, at the end of a gated driveway.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
We booked by email through the owner’s website. Andrea, the owner, was quick to respond and easy to deal with. He was there to meet us within minutes of our arrival.
The pictures and information on the website give an accurate impression of the building and suites.
Andrea was a cheerful and helpful presence during our stay, keeping in touch with us and ready to help with advice and recommendations, even rides. He really made us feel welcome, and comfortable.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
Absolutely, we loved the apartment, and we loved Sorrento and can’t wait to go back for a longer stay.
Things to do in this area
Sorrento is a transportation hub for Vesuvius, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Capri and the Amalfi coast. It is also a lovely town and we really enjoyed looking around, shopping and eating there.
Villa Terrazza offers boat excursions to guests, and plans are being made to include tours with a historian, exploring some of the sites that are more accessible by water. We hope to get back there in the not-too-distant future to participate in this.
