Vacation rentals in Italy (villas, farms, estates, agriturismo, apartments)
Review 3386: Italy-Accom, Teatro della Pace
1bed/1bath apartment near Piazza Navona, Rome
February 2008, one week
The apartment is located in Rome. It's in a great location, near Piazza Navona. I LOVED the area. I did not feel like a tourist because the people I met (who helped me SO MUCH!) were residents of Rome. I would not, however, like to stay there in the summer as there is no air conditioning. Since it is a very busy area and noisy late at night, it would be difficult to sleep with the windows open and all the noise.
Everything was very close. We could walk to a grocery store and a fabulous outdoor market area. Since we spent the entire day seeing sights (usually until seven or eight in the evening) we opted to stay in for the evening meal.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the apartment. It was in an old building, but everything was modern. Great bathroom, shower, kitchen. I don't know how many apartments were in the building.
You can view the apartment directly: Teatro della Pace.
No garden or outside seating area.
The furniture was in good shape and were comfortable.
The bedrooms were wonderful.
The kitchen was usable. There were enough pots and pans and dishes of good quality. I LOVE to cook and was able to prepare some wonderful meals.
Problems or Bonuses
We couldn't find the extra bedding until someone came to help us. She, also had to search for a while to find the key to the closet.
I think it would be a good idea if there were some information for us when we arrived (re: extra bedding, market.)
I am a seasoned traveler, so I'm used to finding my way, but for someone who doesn't travel and doesn't speak Italian (which I speak in a limited fashion!) I think it might have been difficult.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
We were treated well by the agency. I forget the price but I've found that it's usually less expensive to rent an apartment. Although there are fewer amenities (e.g. concierge) I much prefer an apartment to a hotel. I only stay in a hotel in Athens.
Restaurants: There was one right under our apartment. The restaurant is on Via Governo Vecchio and a woman named Federica (?) is there. We also ate at Lilli near the river and a great spot in the ghetto ~ Sora Margherita. Fabulous!
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
OH YES!!!! I would definitely stay there again. I have a friend who works in a shop near the apartment and I would go back because of her!
Things to do in this area
Hello! I was in Rome! Not necessary to mention things to see.
As for restaurants, see above for restaurant info. I need to spend more time in Rome. This was my first trip there and a week is NOT LONG ENOUGH! I am investigating the possibility of a home exchange during the summer (July? August?) I want to really learn to speak Italian.
I loved everything about my stay in Rome except Alitalia who lost my luggage for four days ~ over half my vacation. Plus, several things were stolen from my bag.
