5bed/4bath villa in Castelmuzio, near Pienza, Tuscany South WhenJune 29th - July 6th, 2002, One week LocationThe villa is in the middle of an olive grove behind the hosts' home. It has a wonderful view of the Tuscan valley, including the Santa Ana church where the English Patient was filmed. Nearby AmenitiesThe villa is in the small hillside town of Castelmuzio. There is a small store in the village. A bigger grocery store is a 10-minute drive away. There is one restaurant down the street. More restaurants are in surrounding villages, about 10 to 15 minutes away. There are a lot of choices. Our hosts provided a welcoming basket of provisions, including fresh herbs from their garden, wine, and their very own, very wonderful olive oil. The House/ApartmentThe villa has been extensively remodeled and is on par with a first class hotel. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. The bathrooms are spectacular. There is room for both children and adults. The kitchen has all the latest amenities. There is also a washing machine and outdoor lines to dry your clothes. GardenThere is a wonderful private garden in the back, just off the dining room. It has a table where we had more than one meal. There is wonderful infinity pool set in between the olive grove and garden, overlooking the valley. You can do laps or just float along gazing at the view. There are plenty of chairs and umbrellas. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe dining room table seats at least 10, if not more. There is another table outside. The living room had very comfortable couches. There was more than enough seating for eating, lounging, or napping. The villa was spotless. The maid cleans weekly. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds were very comfortable. Each room was beautifully appointed. The bathrooms had all the latest amenties, including rainfall showerheads, with plenty of hot water. KitchenThe kitchen is well equipped and has a good supply of pots and pans. There is also an open hearth in the kitchen. Plenty of room for more communal cooking. Problems or BonusesThe villa exceeded my expectations. Agency and Representatives (and price)This was by far one of my best vacations, due in no small part to the accommodations, and to the hospitality of the hosts, Mark and Rebecca. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I've already recommended Villa nell'Oliveto as a must to several of my friends. Things to do in this areaDays trips to the local villages and to Siena, hot air ballooning, eating, drinking, and just relaxing at the villa and the pool.
