Vacation rentals in Italy (villas, farms, estates, agriturismo, apartments)
Review 3398: Owner, #104889
1bed/1bath apartment near Piazza Navona, Rome
March 4-10, 2008, 6 nights
Located a short walk from Piazza Navona in the historic center of Rome. It is located in a small apartment building with two or three other apartments. The street, Vicolo della Campanella is a short, narrow street with limited traffic two blocks from Corso Vittorio Emanuelle near the Castel San Angelo bridge.
Very convenient location near bars, grocery stores, and plenty of restaurants. All are within walking distance.
Very quiet apartment in a building that is in adequate condition. Not a fancy apartment by any means but serves the purpose.
No garden or outside sitting area.
Furniture is okay, apartment is very clean. Adequate for the four of us.
Beds were fine. The two king size beds are located in the very large bedroom. The double sofa bed is located in the sitting area.
Kitchen was fine for our purposes. We did no cooking. Just breakfast and snacks. I think it would suffice for those who wished to cook full meals.
Problems or Bonuses
The apartment is advertised as two bedrooms. There is one bedroom with two king size beds and a double sofa bed in the sitting or living area. It's okay for a family but two couples might not appreciate the lack of privacy. There were four of us, two old codgers in the bedroom occupying the king size beds and my two adult sons sharing the sitting room sofa bed.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
This was booked through VRBO with the owner, Luigi, being the contact person. He's a very likable guy who was quite helpful and responsive. Speaks English quite well. The apartment is pretty much as advertised except for the incorrect listing as a two bedroom apartment. The cost was €720 for two for six nights. Luigi charged an additional €100 for the two nights that my sons stayed with us in the apartment.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
I would recommend the apartment assuming that it was understood that there is only one bedroom although there is sleeping space for six. It would not do, in my opinion, for two couples who might be quite upset at sharing the same bedroom although in comfortable king size beds.
Things to do in this area
Plenty to do in the area. Within easy walking distance of many points of interest: Piazza Navona, Campo dei Fiori, the Vatican, the Pantheon, etc. Quite near some excellent walking areas (Via Giulia, etc.) Plenty of good restaurants.
