Review 3405: Sleep in Italy, Via dei Delfini

Review by Sarah from Israel

1bed/1bath near Piazza Campidoglio, Rome

March 2008, 5 nights

The apartment is in a very central location in the historic center of Rome. It's on a tiny alley close to Piazza Venezia and Piazza del Campidoglio where there are many bus lines. It's a short walk from Campo de Fiori and Piazza Navona.

Nearby Amenities

There are two very good and not expensive restaurants in the tiny Piazza Margana right across from the apartment and a small grocery store next door.

The House/Apartment

The apartment is in an old building with a heavy wooden door right on the street and is up two very steep flights of steps. It looked like there are five other apartments in the building.

The apartment is attractive and the layout is pleasant -- off the entrance hall there's a living room with a sleep sofa (we didn't test it out) and beyond that a kitchen with a table that seats four. At the far end of the hall there's a bedroom and bath with shower.

You can view the apartment directly: Via dei Delfini.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The apartment is nicely decorated (Ikea with a few nice old wooden pieces), comfortable, quiet and very clean.

The weather was pleasant, so we just opened the windows, but there is central heating and room air-conditioners.

The king size bed had a firm mattress, which we appreciated. The bathroom was big enough -- not luxurious but attractive and in very good shape. The water pressure in the shower was a little weak.

Towels were supplied. There was no hand soap and only one roll of toilet paper.

The kitchen has a two-burner stove, a small refrigerator(no freezer) and a microwave oven. There's a coffee pot and enough pots and pans to make a simple meal. There were a few staples in the cupboard: coffee, tea, sugar, olive oil, salt and pepper. There's a dishwasher and washing machine. Dish soap and laundry soap were supplied.

Problems or Bonuses

No problems at all.

There is no balcony though one was mentioned in the description on the web site.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The agency representative we wrote to was very helpful. She answered all our questions about the different apartments available and recommended this one that happened to have a discount for March 2008 (110 for two people per night instead of 120).

The agent who met us on site was pleasant, spoke English and helped us get the bags up the steps.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would definitely recommend staying here. The apartment was comfortable and attractive and the location couldn't have been better. The only drawback of the apartment is the steps that are steep and no fun with luggage.

Things to do in this area

The apartment is actually walking distance from almost everywhere in the historic center. The excellent Vecchia Roma restaurant is down the block.
