apartments on the outskirts of Perugia, Umbria WhenFebruary 24th - April 6, 2008, 6 weeks LocationVilla Nuba is on a hilltop and a 20 - 25 minute walk to the historic center of Perugia. It is a beautiful garden setting. Nearby AmenitiesA wonderful grocery store, fruit stand, pizzeria, bakery and coffee shop (Bar) were all within walking distance. The House/ApartmentThe building is a historic farm house recently renovated to luxury apartment. There are three apartments in total and the owners live in an attached building. The space is beautiful with wonderful attention to detail. All apartments feel quite private. GardenThe terrace is lovely and complete with gentle songbirds. Each apartment has its own table and chairs and there is a pool (not open while I was there), BBQ and ping pong table to share. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe space is a delight to the senses; lace curtains, ceramic pulls on the kitchen drawers, a firm comfortable bed, a beautiful custom built fireplace, a well equipped kitchen complete with spices, and a garden view with the Umbrian countryside peeking through the trees. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds were very comfortable. The bedroom was large with ample storage space and chairs to sit and read. The bathroom was luxurious. KitchenI loved cooking at Del Bonfigli. The kitchen was well equipped and stocked with sugar, coffee and spices. Problems or BonusesYes, the owners are wonderful and Giuseppe was unbelievably helpful. Any questions I had about the apartment were quickly answered and a short tour between the bus station and the apartment was full of recommendations for grocery shopping, a local pizzeria, the bus system, and nearby ATM. Giuseppe was generous with his time, providing pick up of my visitors at the train and bus stations and giving me general wisdom and language support in my first few weeks alone in Perugia. Agency and Representatives (and price)I found this through SlowTrav and booked directly with the owners. Giuseppe was wonderful. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would recommend the Villa Nuba to anyone wanting a short or extended stay in a luxury apartment in the beautiful historic city of Perugia. Things to do in this areaThe nearby Bar on Via Eugubina had a delightful staff, delicious pastry and cappuccino. I attended the Universita' per Stranieri and it was an unforgettable experience. Wandering the small medieval streets of Perugia is a step back in time. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
