apartments on a farm near Pienza, Tuscany South WhenMarch 30-April 3, 2008, one week LocationCretaiole is a farmhouse in the country, four kilometers from Pienza, that has been converted into six apartments. The location is quiet and beautiful - walking distance to Pienza; great walking trails nearby. The facility is private. The apartment was cozy and comfortable, felt safe. One is able to visit with other tourists who are staying there as much or as little as is desired. We had free access to use produce from the on-site vegetable garden in our cooking. Nearby AmenitiesA rental car is a necessity. Pienza is the closest place for coffee, groceries, restaurants - it is a pleasant walk, but one probably wouldn't enjoy the necessity of walking if it were raining. The House/ApartmentPeaceful, quiet, delightful. Wildlife was visible in early morning and at dusk - deer and pheasant. GardenThere was a nice yard with outside sitting area overlooking typical hills of Tuscany, with hilltop walled towns in the skyline. The outside yard is shared space - lots of sitting or lounge chairs and a picnic table. Also, there was a ping-pong table, swing set, sandbox, and family-friendly yard toys. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasEverything was great! The apartment was clean and well-furnished. Bedrooms/BathroomsBeds were comfortable. Bathroom was efficient, clean, and worked well. Good hot water supply. Tap water was safe to drink. KitchenWe enjoyed cooking in the kitchen. Problems or BonusesA totally delightful experience from beginning to end! Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We would love to stay here again, and we would recommend it to our best friend for sure! Things to do in this areaWe spent our days walking and exploring near-by small towns. Totally delightful. We especially loved the vespers service at S. Antimo abbey. We also enjoyed trying out a few restaurants in Pienza, Montalcino, San Quirico d'Orcia, and Bagno Vignoni. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
