Review 3485: Doorways, Villa Buonvisi
10bed/10bath villa near Lucca, Tuscany North
April 2008, one week
The villa is in a beautiful countryside setting that feels very private. (There are two other smaller villas on the property, but not right next door.)
La Perla café, a few minutes' walk from the villa, was great for coffee, panini, gelato and pastries. The nearest stores were a few miles away.
The villa is several hundred years old and beautifully restored (including modern conveniences like A/C and wi-fi), and the setting is peaceful.
You can view the property directly Buonvisi.
There's a pool with a nearby sitting area, and pretty, spacious grounds to stroll around.
Clean, nice furniture and plenty of chairs.
One bathroom per bedroom, with nice marble and plenty of hot water. My bed was very comfortable (might want to request an extra blanket for cool nights though).
A chef prepared our in-house meals, but the kitchen appeared substantial.
Problems or Bonuses
Agency and Representatives (and price)
The agency was great, and the owners (on-site) spoke very good English. The place was at least as stunning as the photos online.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
I'd stay here if I was traveling with a large group for a special occasion (for a wedding or family reunion, etc.), since it's so roomy and less rustic/more luxurious than the average villa.
Things to do in this area
Walking tour of Lucca, shopping in Florence, opera in Lucca, Bagni di Pisa spa, among others.
