2bed/1bath apartment near the Vatican, Rome WhenRome, 4 nights LocationThe apartment at Ottaviano Uno, Via Ottaviano 9, was in a fantastic location - the trams ran past the door, the buses from the nearby corner and the Metro 2 blocks up the street, not to mention a five minute easy walk to the Vatican. The apartment is clean, comfortable and quiet. Best of all for those of us who do not speak Italian, the person with whom you deal (Francesco) speaks perfect English. The only slight inconvenience was paying the deposit - but for Australians it is so easy - a bank transfer into a Westpac account based in Melbourne! We would highly recommend this apartment to anyone interested in staying in something a little roomier (and cheaper) than a hotel. Nearby AmenitiesThe apartment is located in a street with many restaurants/take away food shops; the supermarket is just around the corner; the laundry is two blocks away. The House/ApartmentThe apartment has two double beds and a newly renovated large bathroom, with a fully equipped kitchen including kettle and toaster. It is quiet, comfortable and well appointed. The apartment is on the top floor and each floor contains at least four to six other apartments. The building also has a lift. You can view the apartment directly: Apartment Ottaviano Uno. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasNo sitting area which was a little inconvenience although we really didn't spend much time indoors, except to sleep/shower. The kitchen was fully equipped, the apartment air conditioned, beds were comfortable although the pillows were not and the place was well maintained and clean. Bedrooms/BathroomsBeds were fine, the pillows were clean but not very comfortable. Both bedrooms were nicely appointed as was the newly renovated bathroom. KitchenFully equipped including a toaster and kettle as well as plenty of pots and pans etc. We didn't cook much at all (why would you in Rome?) but we did use the kettle and toaster each day. Problems or BonusesThe surprise was the fantastic location, the fact that it was right in the midst of everything and yet quiet was wonderful. We would not hesitate to recommend it to ANYONE wanting to stay in something other than a single, expensive hotel room. Agency and Representatives (and price)We did our booking via the Internet - it was fast, efficient and accurate. Francesco speaks excellent English and when we arrived in Rome a day earlier than planned, we were lucky enough to be able to get into the apartment early. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?YES, YES, YES. Things to do in this areaEverything in Rome is accessible from this location. Public transport is right at the door as are myriads of restaurants/cafes/bars. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
