2bed/2bath apartment in Montefollonico, Tuscany South WhenMay 2008, 2 nights LocationThe apartment which is actually called the Mezzaluna is located in a beautifully renovated farmhouse in a village called Montefollonico which is 10 minutes by car from Montepulciano. The location is best described as stunning. Nearby AmenitiesThe village of Montefollonico has all the conveniences that you would normally need. We used the grocery store for all our shopping needs. There was also a small market on one of the days we were there where we got some fresh fish. I dropped into one of the restaurants (La Chiusa) to check the menu and it was very high end. I believe there is another one but I didn't check it out. Believe me, nothing can beat sitting out on the patio of the apartment with some homemade food and a bottle of wine - or maybe two! The House/ApartmentThe apartment was renovated to the highest standards - vastly superior to any hotel we stayed in during our holiday. The owners (Bob and Elfride) lived on an upper floor of the house but we never heard them. GardenThe view from the patio is truly inspiring - the ideal Tuscan landscape with the hilltop village of Montepulciano in full view. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasEverything was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Bedrooms/BathroomsThere were two lovely large bedrooms with very comfortable beds. The two bathrooms were spacious with excellent showers. Loads of storage space for everything. KitchenThe kitchen was superb. A huge door which opened onto the patio and lots of windows made it very bright and spacious. All utensils were available. I would die for a kitchen like this one! Problems or BonusesI was surprised that the place was even better than the pictures on the website portrayed. This place is a gem! Agency and Representatives (and price)Elfride and Bob are English. Actually, Bob is Welsh but we won't hold that against him. Unfortunately, we only stayed two nights and paid the ridiculously low price of €130 per night for four of us at the beginning of May. Next time we'll stay at least a week. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We would stay here again in a heartbeat and would recommend it to anyone. Things to do in this areaWe went to Pienza (highly recommended) and Montalcino (worth a visit). Visited the abbey at Sant'Antimo (stunning) and then drove through incredible scenery to Asciano ( bring your driving gloves).
