WhenMay 2008, 14 days LocationLe Manzinaie is located in Montepulciano Stazione in the beautiful Tuscan country side just outside Montepulciano. We loved the area; it is predominately golden rolling hills with vineyards and olive trees. It's strikingly beautiful!! The property itself has lush beautiful gardens. There are fruit trees and vegetables; all of which are available to the guests. Le Manzinaie is centrally located and convenient to Siena, Arezzo, Pienza, Assisi, Orvieto and many of the hill towns of south/central Tuscany. We also daytripped to Florence (an 1.25 hour car ride) and Rome (1.25 train ride from Chiusi). Nearby AmenitiesLe Manzinaie is very convenient. In Montepulciano Stazione there is a small grocery, a pharmacy, butcher, fish monger, pizza, several restaurants and the best gelato we had in Italy. Just three kilometers away in Aquavita there is a Coop (full service grocery store) and several very good, reasonably priced restaurants. The House/ApartmentThe farm house was built in 1876 and has been beautifully restored by the owners Fiore, Martzia and their daughter Alice. There are five apartments and a stand alone house. We stayed in Girasole a large updated two-bedroom, two-bath apartment with a large kitchen/living area. The ceilings are vaulted high brick ceilings. The family has done a magnificent job in decorating with beautiful murals in the bedrooms that were painted by Martzia. GardenThe garden is lovely. There are beautiful flowers plus fruit trees and vegetables. There are both public and private sitting areas that have tables, chairs and lounges. The pool area is serene an peaceful surrounded by flowering plants. There is also a grill area and Fiore will be happy to start an authentic Tuscan wood grill for you! Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe apartment was spotless. It was cleaner than five star hotels that we've stayed in. The furniture was in great shape with plenty of room for the four of us. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds were extremely comfortable. There were enough pillows and towels. The bathroom was very modern with a double sink, shower, whirlpool tub and bidet. KitchenVery good kitchen with modern appliances. More than enough pans, plates and utensils! Problems or BonusesI cannot say enough good things about Le Manzinaie. It was the best vacation that we've ever taken. The thing that really made it special were the owners Fiore, Martzia and Alice. They are extremely gracious and treat you like one of their family. We mentioned that we were going to Rome and Florence and suddenly we had train schedules and reservations to the Uffizi. They are friendly but not intrusive with offers of vino or cappucino. The best night was a cooking lesson given by Martzia. The food was wonderful but the company with stories and laughing made the night. Agency and Representatives (and price)We worked directly with Alice. She couldn't have treated us better. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I LOVE Le Manzinaie. I'm already planning to return plus I've passed on their information to several friends who are planning trips in the next year.
