Vacation rentals in Italy (villas, farms, estates, agriturismo, apartments)
Review 3537: i Greppi di Silli, Apartment
1bed/1bath apartment near Mercatale Val de Pesa, Tuscany Chianti
11 May - 16 May 2008, 5 nights
i Greppi di Silli is located outside Mercatale val di Pesa, near San Casciano. It's centrally located to the Firenze - Siena motorway making travel throughout the region very easy.
The farmhouse is located way up on a hill - accessible by a single lane road.
All nearby amenities are within a 10 minute drive. The property supplies you with a list of local and regional restaurants that they highly recommend. We did go to two of them and they did not steer us wrong!
The agriturismo was renovated in 1997 and is built to last. It was quiet, and peaceful with magnificent views of the countryside. Our apartment was ample size for two people with a king size bed and a nice sized kitchen. The property has a total of six rentals available of varying sizes. They do have a rental that is handicapped accessible too.
The property had a BBQ area and pool that are both shared. Each apartment had its own sitting area. We had a terrace that was western facing, giving us the great view of the sunset.
All living spaces were in very good shape. There was ample seating for everyone. The place was spotless when we checked in.
The bed was comfortable - the shutters on the bedroom window made it possible to sleep in complete darkness. The bathroom was small by American standards but large enough for the two of us.
There was plenty of pots, pans, dishes and espresso makers in the kitchen! We cooked twice here and the counter space was more than enough to prepare and serve a meal.
Problems or Bonuses
Upon check in we were given a bottle of wine, olive oil and honey - all produced by i Greppi di Silli. (there olive oil is amazing!)
There was also a welcome dinner they gave on Tuesday night. It was a five course home cooked meal with wine for €28 a person. It could not have been any better!
Agency and Representatives (and price)
The price was €95 a night - it was low season. We booked online and to be honest, the website and description does not do this place justice!
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
We would absolutely stay here again and are considering doing just that next year!
Things to do in this area
We were less than an hour to Siena, San Gimignano, Greve and Florence. About an hour to Pisa and Lucca.
Locally - Greve is a great little town with a lot of small wineries one can visit if previously arranged.
We ate at a fabulous restaurant in Montefiridolfi, A Casa Mia. Authentic home-cooked Tuscan food. It doesn't get any better than this!
