1bed/1bath apartment near Campo dei Fiori, Rome WhenMay 2008, 1 week LocationLocation was on a very quiet street (Via Giulia) near Campo dei Fiori. No horns. Top floor with a beautiful private rooftop terrace! Nearby AmenitiesDespar supermarket was only a short block away! Campo dei Fiori and the morning market is only a couple of minutes further. The House/ApartmentThis is a very old building that is completely modern inside. The other suites (only one on each floor) in the building do not appear to be rentals, and there was no noise whatsoever from the neighbours. This is the fourth floor, and there is NO elevator - we didn't mind the walk up - except maybe the first day with suitcases - and the agent did rush down to help! Air conditioning units in living room, dining room and bedroom. Also lots of windows for natural ventilation. You can view the apartment directly: Gli Artisti. GardenThe rooftop terrace was fabulous. Only a block off the river, so we could see trees, two chiesas within a block, and the dome of St. Peters. Neighbouring buildings have immaculate gardens on their terraces (all lower)that enhanced our view. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe suite was immaculate, with several antique pieces of furniture and modern sofas. Beautiful glass dining table. CD player, satellite TV (not many English channels though). Bedrooms/BathroomsVery comfortable bed. One bathroom with bath/shower, toilet and bidet - all very modern. Lots of hot water. Hair dryer provided. KitchenThe kitchen is cosy but fully equipped - oven/ microwave, dishwasher and clothes washer. Espresso maker and American drip coffee maker. Having the full kitchen allowed us to cook dinners on alternate days to reduce our restaurant expense in this expensive city. Problems or BonusesThe unit was exactly as described, except perhaps even nicer than we anticipated. The painted murals tell a story, and are quite unique! Agency and Representatives (and price)We only dealt with the agency over Internet/email, and they arranged everything with no problems or surprises. The owner was away when we were there, but he arranged for a very friendly guy to meet us. He carefully explained everything we needed to use the apartment facilities and satellite, etc. Lots of guide books available to help us explore Rome's attractions. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Absolutely, without qualification. My only worry is that by submitting this review, my friends may not be able to get in when they want to come! This was so much better that a hotel, and retreating to this oasis of calm for appetizers and a few drinks on the terrace was so relaxing after each day of battling the crowds in the city - and before venturing out again in the evening.
