When

Rome, 5 nights

Location

The apartment is in a real residential area of Rome, with a few, but not many, tourists. But it is five minutes from fast transport (metro), which takes you to all the tourist "hot spots" within minutes.

Nearby Amenities

Walk to everything. More than one supermarket, fresh fruit and vegetable shop, restaurants downstairs, and a fabulous gelateria.

The House/Apartment

It is in a local, family-occupied apartment building. The street is very busy, but there is double glazing and air conditioning if the traffic noise becomes too much (but then Rome is a noisy city!)

You can view the apartment directly: Piramide Ostiense.

Garden

No garden or outside area.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Everything was immaculately clean, and the furniture was comfortable.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom very spacious. The shower stall is very tiny, so a very obese person may have difficulty getting in and out. The shower is great - water pressure and temp is fine. The bathroom also houses a washer/dryer. There is a bidet as well as toilet.

Kitchen

The kitchen was very well stocked - including many touches you don't always find in rental apartments.

Problems or Bonuses

The owner left a mobile phone for us to contact her with any questions at all. That was very thoughtful.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The agency was excellent. All dealings were efficient and professional, and communications were answered within a day's turnaround (great considering time zone differences). All communication was in English. The apartment lived up to published details.

We paid 600 for a five night stay (for three people).

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Yes, with no hesitation. Anyone who wants to experience "real Rome" (but not out in the sticks) will be very pleased with it.

Things to do in this area

The gelateria in the next building was a real hit with us. Thank goodness there was a great fridge/freezer to keep the gelato frozen!

We visited the Non-Catholic cemetery where Keats and Shelley are buried. It is a peaceful haven. Also liked walking in the Aventine area which is nearby.
