1bed/1bath apartment near Spanish Steps, Rome WhenJune 2008, 5 days LocationWhat a great location! Three blocks from Spanish Steps and three blocks from Plaza de Popolo. Many shops and restaurants nearby. Loved the area because it was so close to everything and it felt very safe. Nearby AmenitiesYou can walk to breakfast, lunch and dinner. A grocery is only two blocks away. The subway had two nearby stops - Spagna and Flaminio. The House/ApartmentThis is a beautiful air-conditioned apartment. It is on the first floor (European), only one flight of steps to climb. You have a door and a gate to open, which adds to the feeling of safety. It is spotless and has a separate bedroom and bath. There is also a loft with a foldout bed if needed. The kitchen is well equipped with a washer/dryer available. A TV and phone are also available. GardenThe only negative, there is no outside area or even a window to the outside. The windows open to a private area with no view appeal. We did not miss it though because it was so hot when we were in Rome. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasOutstanding!!! It is obvious that this apartment has had little use. Everything was either new or little worn. Nice kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom with all amenities. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bedroom had a king sized bed that was very comfortable. The owner provided extra pillows and throws beyond what was on the bed. We were very comfortable. Large sized bath with towels and drying area. KitchenEverything was available for use in the kitchen although we did not cook when we were there. We used the sink and refrigerator and the washing machine the most. The kitchen area is large and more than adequate for two to four people to cook a meal and eat in if necessary. All utensils, plates, and glasses are provided. Problems or BonusesThe short walk up and the excellent air-conditioning was a plus with the weather in the 90+ area. Agency and Representatives (and price)The agency was most helpful. We had trouble with our cell phone and it took a few calls to get to the owner but it all worked out. The ad shows the apartment exactly as it is, in fact we thought it was better than expected. We were able to converse with everyone in English. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Absolutely!! We plan to rent again when we return. Things to do in this areaShopping is wonderful in this area. It is very near the Spanish steps and Via del Corso. Also, the restaurants are wonderful. The side streets off of Via del Babuino are full of great cafes and bistros. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
