Review 3643: Your Tuscany, Villa Castelletto

Review by Suzy A from UK

7bed/6bath house near Monticchiello, Tuscany South

June 2008, 1 week

Villa Castelletto is situated about three or four kilometers from Monticchiello in the Val D'Orcia area of Tuscany. I haven't visited all areas of Tuscany but I think it would be difficult to find somewhere more beautiful. It was convenient for day trips too and we visited Montepulciano, Pienza and Montalcino.

Nearby Amenities

It wasn't possible to walk to Monticchiello but it was only a three-minute drive away to the closest restaurant. The supermarket that we used was a 10 minute drive in Pienza where there are some great shops, restaurants and cafes.

The House/Apartment

This villa was gorgeous; it had a really special atmosphere. It was very tranquil and as the property is spread over a main villa and two separate annexes, there is plenty of space. The villa had everything required for a really comfortable stay and is very homely.

You can view the property directly: Villa Castelletto.

The outdoor areas were stunning. We loved sitting under the shady loggia during the heat of the day and dining outside in the evening. The pool was lovely and had really breath-taking views of the valley.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The house was very clean and although filled with the owner's personal objects, it did not feel too cluttered and instead gave the property lots of personality. The dining room had plenty of space for us to eat together (there were 12 of us) and the layout of the property was great for our group as we all had our own space and didn't feel that we were on top of each other.

The beds were comfortable and the bedrooms were warmly decorated and inviting. There were six bathrooms, which were more than enough for us, some had bath tubs and some showers.

The kitchen was really nice and had a very 'Tuscan' feel. It was equipped with everything necessary for cooking a full meal, which we all enjoyed doing using the fresh produce Tuscany offers.

Problems or Bonuses

No surprises as such. It took us a couple of days to get our bearings and find our way around the area as the directions can be confusing. It would have been nice to be able to walk into a village in the evening without having to drive.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Your Tuscany were very helpful and replied to any questions I had in a prompt and honest way. They organised a cooking class for us which was great fun. Definitely recommend them and will use them the next time I visit Tuscany.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Absolutely, Villa Castelletto is exactly what I thought of when I pictured Tuscany. I would love to go back as it is the perfect place to relax and yet is surrounded by great places to visit and the food and wine are heavenly.

Things to do in this area

I loved the pecorino cheese sold in Pienza and wine tasting Brunello in Montalcino. The Tuscan cooking lesson was also a fantastic experience.
