apartments on a farm near Montepulciano, Tuscany South WhenOctober 5 - 12, 2002, one week LocationThe location was a not quite what we expected, 7 kms. outside of Montepulciano. We had thought that we would be on a hill with views but we were in the valley with some views up to the surrounding hill towns. The location turned out to be great, easy to get around for day trips and the grounds were wonderful. What really made the visit special were the owners ... Marzia, Fiore and their daughter Alicia. We very much enjoyed the meal the cooked for us and the other guests. Each of them tried very hard to make our visit a great experience and they met our every request. The other guests were pleasant as well, though it was not crowded there. The one downside was the noise from the high speed train. Tracks about 2 kms. away, but I think one would hear the train all through the valley. All in all, we had a wonderful time there. Nearby AmenitiesDriving only ... nearest store and restaurant about 4 kms. The House/ApartmentOld barn, fixed up nicely. Four other apartments and a stand alone two-bedroom place. View our classified listing for Le Manzinaie, a SlowTrav Favorite. GardenVery nice outside gardens, shared ... there is a pool but it was covered. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasVery clean apartment and quite large ... especially liked the high ceilings. Every thing was in good shape. Bedrooms/BathroomsBeds were a little firmer than we were used to, but we slept great. Very nice bathroom, shower pressure was variable as was the water temp. We figured it out toward the end of the week. KitchenKitchen pots were cheap aluminium ... and the coffee maker need a significant up grade ... (a one cup funky coffee maker was frustrating). We cooked breakfast everyday and bought our own spatula ... it would have been hard to cook a full meal there, but that was not what we were looking for ... Problems or BonusesThe biggest plus was our interactions with the owners ... they made the place. Agency and Representatives (and price)Manola and Rebecca were wonderful. The only thing we miss-understood was the location of the property, but it turned out well for us. Without knowning the the landscape and the area, it would be hard to know exactly what to expect. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We would stay again if we wanted to be in the Montepulciano area, especially with family and friends. However, we would like to try other locations. Things to do in this areaL'Angolo Trattoria in Acquaviva ... great for pizzas and pici della la casa. La Pievina Restaurant in Pievina (outside of Asciana) worth the trip, the flambouyant owner is wonderful. The restaurant specializes in seafood. Definitely worth the experience.
