apartments in San Polo, Venice When2008, 1 week LocationI cannot imagine a better location for a week's stay in Venice! From here you can get either a Vaporetto or the traghetto after about two minutes walk. And you are right in the center of Venice; you can walk everywhere! It is in an apartment building with others above but we never heard a peep from anywhere inside. The only sounds were the boats and the water. Nearby AmenitiesEasy walk for coffee, groceries, great bakery right around the corner. The coop for groceries is about a five minute walk, towards Rialto. The House/ApartmentFrom the outside (from the canal) is doesn't look very well kept. It's that beautiful Venetian weathered look, but the inside is very beautiful and well maintained. I wouldn't say it is "peaceful and quiet." There are wonderful boat sounds all day long if you open the windows. At night you only hear a very occasional boat and the lapping waves. GardenNo outside sitting area with this particular apartment. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasVery clean. Enough furniture but not really a great set-up for eating. We used the desk, right in front of the window and that worked great. Bedrooms/BathroomsGreat bed in this studio apartment. You can have it separated for two twins but tell them before you arrive. Bathroom worked great. Plenty of hot water and water pressure. Shower was tiny but... KitchenWe didn't really cook at all. We did have stuff in the refrigerator to make salad and sandwiches and that was plenty. This is not the place for someone who plans to do a lot of cooking. Problems or BonusesSurprises. Well, the location was perfection. We really LOVED this place. One word of warning when finding the place. The last "street" you walk down is Calle Centani. We would never call it a street; it's a narrow little alley way, easy to miss on first try. Agency and Representatives (and price)The owner's family was easy to deal with and charming. English spoken perfectly. Place looks just like the web site. I think we paid about $1,000/week--exchange rate. It was €730. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would stay again and sincerely hope I do! Things to do in this areaGreat shopping right there! I personally love the Sabbie and Nebbie shop full of beautiful Asian imports. I bought a great scarf there. Tons of restaurants nearby.
