Review 3687: Rentvillas, L'Ippocastano 2

Review by Millicent from PA

apartment on farm near Cortona, Tuscany East

July 19-26, 2008, 1 week

This was a wonderful vacation rental. We were very central to all of Tuscany for making day trips, which we did. The property had so many amenities, the kitchen was fully stocked, and the grounds were furnished with wonderful outdoor furniture. There was a busy road outside the gate, but we had no problem with any noise as the walls were thick, and the shutters kept out noise. We utilized the pool and the grounds, and every bit of the property and grounds were immaculately kept. I would return, and it would be a wonderful place for a family reunion. I highly recommend this property.

Nearby Amenities

You could walk or bike to the village for groceries, but the road outside the gates was busy. I drove to the supermarket, and it was a Coop, which was a nice large supermarket. Every evening we drove into Cortona for dinner. Our farmhouse was located at the bottom of the hill, and we drove and parked in the free parking outside the wall of Cortona. We were about four miles outside Cortona, and about two miles to the supermarket, and about one mile to the village. All of the restaurants inside Cortona were walkable once you drove and parked.

The House/Apartment

The building was in excellent shape. There were four apartments (ours was 2bed/2bath) in one building, and two apartments in another. The two apartment building was also the wash room, and check in office. There was a large swimming pool with concrete decking, and wonderful lawn furniture behind the buildings. The was quite a bit of outside space, and each apartment had a table with four chairs covered by a pergola. There was also air conditioning in each unit. It was probably one of the cleanest places in which we have ever stayed.

You can view the property directly: L'Ippocastano 2.

Beautiful outdoor areas, pool, and sitting areas. Each unit had their own outside table, as well as chairs. At the pool all the areas were shared, but furnished with great furniture.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Cleanest place I have ever rented!! Plenty of chairs, and linens for the tables were furnished!!! The materials were very upscale.

Beds were comfortable, and beautifully furnished. Brand new tiles, bathrooms, and showers.

It was a very usable kitchen and everything was included, including kitchen linens. We did have plenty of pots, pans, and dishes. The unit even had a dishwasher. The sink was just beautiful, completely out of a rough stone.

Problems or Bonuses

The busy road outside the gate was the only surprise, and like I said, was not a problem for sleeping as the units were very quiet. I did not feel comfortable walking or biking on that road. I was not prepared for how nice all the units were, or how nice the lawn and garden furniture was.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Everything was exactly as stated. We had wonderful communication with rentvillas.com, and when we arrived at the unit, Federicka, our hostess, was charming and helpful. She was also very beautiful, and I do believe my 19 year old son had a crush!!! Federicka spoke very good English, and the prices were exactly as quoted!! I believe the beauty of the grounds for the guests had been understated.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would stay here again in a minute. I would also recommend this property to my best friend, noting the busy road out front. We took day trips to Florence, Pisa, Arezzo, Montepulciano, Cortona, and Siena. You could not find a more central place, nor a more wonderful place in which to return after a long day. The busy road out front was the only concern that we had, and as I stated through this whole recommendation, the noise was not a problem, just the busy road in terms of walking.

Things to do in this area

We loved La Grotta in Cortona for dinner. It was a trattoria, very reasonably priced and delicious. There were so many beautiful sites to explore in Tuscany.
