1bed/1bath apartment near Spanish Steps, Rome WhenJuly 2008, 4 days LocationThe apartment is located on the fourth floor of an old building, in the centre of Rome. The area is quite good, but noisy at all times. Nearby AmenitiesThere are many shops and restaurants and other amenities in the neighbourhood, but supermarkets are rare. The nearest one is about five blocks away. The House/ApartmentThis is a historical building, located on a noisy street. Even though the apartment is on the fourth floor and has double-glazing windows, still one can hear the noise from the street at all hours. The apartment is in fact a loft conversion. Therefore it was built for storage or other purposes, and not for human habitation. The ceiling is slanted, which renders half the apartment impossible for a person of normal height to walk around straight. One has to be careful at all times not to hit his/her head on the low ceilings. You can view the apartment directly: Spana D. GardenThere was a small balcony outside the bedroom. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture was in good shape, but most of it is over-sized for an apartment this size. On the whole, the apartment feels hot and claustrophobic. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds were comfortable but the bathroom had an old tub and a wall-mounted shower. KitchenThe kitchen had modern appliances and enough utensils, however, the low ceilings made using it very difficult. Agency and Representatives (and price)The agency - ParisAddress, was very helpful, but we felt the greeter/owner of the flat rude and unprofessional. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I wouldn't stay in this flat again and wouldn't recommend it to any body because of the layout of the place: the low ceilings make it feel very claustrophobic, and also because of the attitude of the greeter. Things to do in this areaThe apartment is within easy walking distance to the major landmarks in Rome. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
