2bed/1bath apartment in Monti, Rome

When

28 July 2008, 4 nights

Location

The location was perfect. Very close to a metro station. And just one subway stop away from Termini Station.

It was in the city but in a quiet part of the city off in the side streets. The area was very quaint with character giving it a village feel.

Nearby Amenities

We could walk everywhere as the apartment was never really far from anything. Specifically, there was a small grocery store just a couple of streets over and several restaurants and cafes nearby. They were all busy and open late into the evening.

The large, main boulevard was less than a 10 minute walk away where shops and everything could be found.

The tourist "i" information kiosks were within walking distance too.

The House/Apartment

The apartment is in the historical Monti section of Rome, where it's reported that Rome began. The buildings are in great shape for their history. The apartment building is well maintained, only thing is it was on the 4th floor and there was no elevator.

It was a spacious, nicely furnished apartment. The larger bedroom had a queen bed and great movable table for all our stuff. The second bedroom was good sized as well with a twin and second trundle twin for sleeping two people. The living room was spacious with a large dining table. The apartment had plenty of lighting and cable TV. The sofa was very comfortable too.

You can view the property directly: Historic Monti Apartment.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was all very comfortable -- it seemed almost new, in excellent condition. When we arrived, we could tell that the apartment was carefully cleaned and maintained. There was room for everyone to stretch out and sit and relax on the sofa and around the dining table. There was a desk to write on as well and plenty of lighting to see and read and write with.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The beds were very nice and comfortable. The sheets felt nicely crisp and fresh.

There was just one bathroom however, it was separated into two rooms, one with the shower and another for the toilet, making it very convenient for several people to live with just one bathroom.

Kitchen

The kitchen was just the right size for us. We didn't cook any meals but enjoyed having a kitchen for making simple snacks and things to go for the day.

Problems or Bonuses

We were pleasantly surprised and treated to a very nice bottle of chilled wine by the owner! It's nice to receive a gift like that on our travels.

The apartment had a telephone that we could use for local calls, which was great because we didn't have a cell phone.

We were so appreciative of the air conditioning in the apartment. It worked incredibly well -- very fast and effective in cooling down the apartment, which was greatly appreciated in July with summer temperatures and 100% humidity. It was so wonderful to come back to an air-conditioned apartment.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The agency was easy to work with -- making the reservation and getting it confirmed were all done over email.

Bed & Breakfast Association of Rome was really very helpful and pleasant about everything. They offered me alternative selections with accurate descriptions of the apartment and locations and amenities. They want to make sure their clients are satisfied and enjoy their stay. They are very easy to work with.

We arrived late into Rome and they had no problems with our late evening arrival. Check in and check out were so easy to do. The on site person was kind and very considerate even though it was so late. His English was very good.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this apartment and with this agency. We would use them again and recommend them to our friends and family. The prices are fair and good value.
