2bed/2bath house near Cetona, Tuscany South WhenJuly 2008, 1 week LocationLa Casella is in the country. The closest town is Cetona. The location was fantastic with outstanding Tuscan views and stunning surrounding countryside. The villa is very private. There are good wine regions near by. Siena is within easy driving distance. Florence is accessible by driving or on the fast train. Nearby AmenitiesA car is required to stay at this villa. There is a large supermarket located about 10-15 minute drive away. Cetona is only a few minutes drive away and has some good restaurants. The House/ApartmentThe villa is clean and tidy. The setting is very peaceful and quiet. There are two levels to the house. Each level has been divided into a one bedroom flat. Having said that each apartment has lots of space. Each level has its own kitchen, bathroom, washing machine, dinning table and living area. The top apartment has a shower while the lower does not. The cooking utensils are great. It is ideal for two couples. GardenThere are two outdoor areas for eating. There is a great pool that is very private. The grounds also include a vegetable garden and BBQ area. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasFurniture is in good shape, very comfortable and clean. Plenty of space. Bedrooms/BathroomsBeds comfortable, clean and nice. Bathrooms clean. KitchenThe kitchen was ideal for us. We planned to cook most meals in the villa and we had everything we needed. My advice - go do a cooking course early in your stay (we went to Velia's Cooking Course) and then practice at home in the Tuscan setting - plenty of great wines to wash it down with. Problems or BonusesThere is Internet and Cable TV available - sounds great but lots of other things do do here. Agency and Representatives (and price)Agency we dealt with TuscanHouse was fantastic - very accommodating and organised. On arrival you speak to the owner on the phone - he speaks English. When you arrive at the villa you are met by the gardeners (Italian only) who come each day to tend to the great gardens and pool. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We have stayed in many nice places - however it is rare to find somewhere you are keen to return to. This is definitely a place to experience again. Things to do in this areaThere are many hill top villages to explore. Montepulciano is well known for wine. Siena can be visited in a day from the villa. Florence is just over two hours drive away or you can catch the fast train (90 min), which has no hassles of parking. We did an Italian cooking class as described above.
