2bed/1bath apartment in Dorsoduro, Venice WhenVenice, 4 nights LocationThe location of Ai Pugni was perfect - in the Dorsoduro district of Venice - just of the square of St Barnaba (the church that doubled as the library in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade). We were only a ten minute walk, over the Academia Bridge, from St Marks Square. The vaporetto stop of Ca Rezzonico on the Grand Canal was a three minute walk from the apartment - perfect. Nearby AmenitiesAway from the touristy areas and literally a minute's walk from a small but well-filled supermarket where you could buy all the supplies you need, from fresh vegetables and meats to basics such as tea and cereal (that said, the apartment's owners helpfully supplied all you need for breakfast) and bars/restaurants popular with locals (ie good value, good food). The House/ApartmentThe apartment was well laid out. On the third floor (no lift) you walked into an open plan kitchen diner with a very, very helpful remote controlled air conditioning unit (essential for Venice in the summer). The lounge was comfortable and with windows on two sides and a skylight. Very clean and airy. Views over the terracotta rooftops of Venice - bliss! There was one double bedroom and one twin bedroom, both with comfy beds and nice linen. The other apartments in the building belonged to local residents, so it felt as if you were almost a local too. You can view the property directly: Ai Pugni. GardenNo garden, but that wasn't an issue for us. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasFurniture immaculate and comfy. The apartment was very clean with a dining table that sat five and a three-seater sofa and an armchair. Lovely!! Bedrooms/BathroomsBeds were very comfortable and clean, as was the bathroom. There was a shower, rather than bath, which is pretty usual for Venice. All in all, modern and clean! KitchenKitchen was packed with all you need, from glasses to cooking equipment and staples such as coffee, sugar and milk. Among the items in the kitchen were a Microwave and dishwasher with a washing machine in a utility room just outside the apartment door. We wanted for nothing! Problems or BonusesA nice bottle of wine in the fridge and a selection of Melba toasts for breakfast, along with fresh milk, coffee etc. Very good Agency and Representatives (and price)Italy-Accom were great. This was our third trip with them and as usual they were helpful and polite. Plus they spoke excellent English, which was a great help. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would stay at Ai Pugni again, definitely. It was worth walking up to the third floor for. Things to do in this areaNice shops on the walk from the apartment up to the Rialto, selling great leather gloves and bags. Plus there's a really good ice cream shop on Campo St Barnaba.
