Review 3792: Sleep In Italy, Gregoriana Capo

Review by Roger from CA

1bed/1bath apartment near Spanish Steps, Rome

Very nice central location in Rome, one block from Spanish Steps (Piazza di Spagna) and within walking distance of most of central Rome. About a five minute walk from the Barberini or Piazza di Spagna metro stops. There's also a taxi stand at Piazza di Spagna.

Nearby Amenities

The apartment is on Via Gregoriana, which is a mostly residential street, but there are numerous restaurants in the general vicinity. There's a large supermarket on Via Bufalo, about a five minute walk away.

The House/Apartment

Apartment is up one flight of stairs in a three or four level apartment building. The building is quiet, and appears to have mostly full-time residents.

You can view the property directly: Gregoriana Capo.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The apartment was large and very nicely furnished, and had a beautiful wood floor. It was very clean.

The master bedroom was large, with a walk-in closet and a wall mounted air conditioning unit. The bed was very comfortable. There are two sofa beds in the living room, one single and one double, where our two kids slept. Not as much privacy as a separate bedroom, but OK. However, there's no A/C or fan in the living room, and it stayed quite hot at night. The bathroom was fairly large and quite nice.

The kitchen was very nice - large, modern and well appointed.

Problems or Bonuses

The power for the entire building was out one night when we returned to the apartment, but came back on a few minutes later.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The booking went smoothly. A representative from Sleep in Italy, who spoke reasonably good English, met us at the apartment when we arrived in Rome. She gave us an orientation and collected our money. To check out, we just left the key in the apartment. I believe they charge an additional fee if you arrive on a Sunday or in the evening.

We paid 150 per night for three nights in August '08, plus a 35 cleaning fee.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

We would definitely stay here again, and recommend it to others. The location is about as centralized as you can get, and it's a very nice unit. A second bedroom for the kids would have been nice, but they didn't mind sleeping on separate sofa beds in the living room.
