Review 3808: Owner, Beavita
2bed/1bath apartment in Padova, Veneto
6th - 13th September 2008, 1 week
My wife and I spent a very enjoyable week at Beavita in early September 2008. We arrived in Padova by train and we very much appreciated being met by the owners, Laura and Enrico, at the railway station. They gave us a lovely welcome, including a bottle of wine!
It was a very comfortable apartment, with an excellent kitchen. An especially useful feature was the lavish provision of guidebooks, leaflets (in Italian and English) and maps. These helped us to navigate around Padova using the local buses. The bus stop was a five-minute walk away on via F. Acquapendente, with tickets available from the nearby tobacconist's at the traffic-lights.
Particular highlights were St Anthony's Basilica and the frescoes in the Cathedral Baptistery. There was a very good English language video in the apartment about the Giotto frescoes in the Scrovegni chapel in the Arena Gardens. (You need to book in advance to see these.)
We also enjoyed a trip by train to the fabulous mosaics in Ravenna, and an outing by SITA bus (from the bus-station north of the Arena Gardens)to Arqua Petrarca in the lovely Euganean Hills.
We can thoroughly recommend this apartment.
