Vacation rentals in Italy (villas, farms, estates, agriturismo, apartments)
Review 3810: Amalfi Coast Rental (Primula), Vite
1bed/2bath apartment in Praiano, Campania
July 2008, 1 week
The Vite apartment was located in a very quiet area of the village of Praiano/Vettica maggiore. Very nice and picturesque area. No disturbing traffic or restaurants etc. You reach the main road of the village (with shops and restaurants) by many stairs though it only took about 5-10 minutes to walk. Great exercise!
The beach was more stairs down from the main road and actually a bit disappointing. Very small and rocky, no sand at all.
The grocery store, macelleria (butcher) and fish shop were a short walk from the apartment (only stairs so you need to be a little bit fit for it) and had everything you need to cook a nice meal.
The nearest restaurants as close as the food store.
The apartment was in very good shape and well maintained. Peaceful with locals living in the nearby apartments and houses. One bedroom, two bathrooms and a kitchen/living room fully equipped. Easy and fun to cook in.
You can view the property directly: Vite.
A large private sundeck with table and chairs, umbrella and sunbeds. A great view of the sea where you could also see Positano and Capri. No pool.
Very clean apartment with furniture in good shape and easily enough chairs etc. The bed was rock-hard though.
Nice and newly renovated bathrooms. Nothing to complain about at all.
Very good kitchen with everything you needed to cook and eat. We cooked a lot of dinners and they turned out great.
Problems or Bonuses
Bigger terrace than expected. More clean and well maintained apartment than expected.
Taking out the trash was an experience because you had to sort everything from glass to paper to metal and leave for the garbage men to come pick up on different evenings. The pick-up worked perfect though and of course we were glad to do it since it is good for the environment.
Parking the car was not very easy and had to be done quite a long distance from the apartment. It turned out we did not use our rental car for the whole week. Public transportation worked very good for the excursions we made and it was nice not having to think about whether we would get a parking space when returning in the evenings.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
Were professional and friendly staff with good English skills. Couldnīt have been any better!
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
We would stay here again and easily recommend it to family and friends.
Things to do in this area
A good fish restaurant that we returned to twice was La Brace on the main road of Praiano. Try to take a boat trip to Capri - very beautiful island with amazing views. It is also very nice to get to see the Amalfi coast from the sea.
Vesuvio and Pompeii are other great spots to visit as well as buying fresh buffalo mozzarella from a buffalo farm. We went to Tenuta Vannulo in Capaccio Scalo - very tasty mozzarella and other diary products.
If you plan to drive yourself, be aware that the roads are very narrow and curvy and the Italians drive very fast and aggressive. We had no accidents but it is not a relaxing way of getting from one place to another!
