Location

Le Maribelle 3 is located in Montichiello, a small village between Pienza and Montepulciano, in one of the most beautiful parts of the Crete Senese region. The apartments are in a medieval building on a quiet piazza near the edge of the village. There are very few tourists here, and one is able to really experience life in a small Tuscan town.

Nearby Amenities

There is a small alimentari within a 5-10 minute walk, and supermarkets in Pienza and Montepulciano, about 20 minutes away by car. There are a few restaurants in town, including Osteria La Porta, which has good food, friendly service, and an outside terrace with an excellent view, and La Taverna di Moranda, which is a superb but reasonably priced restaurant with some of the best food I've eaten in Italy.

The House/Apartment

Le Maribelle 3 consists of two separate apartments, which may be rented individually or as a unit. (Those with small children should note that the two units are not internally connected.) The apartments are in a medieval stone building, but have been renovated in a modern style. The lower apartment consists of a single room with two beds and a curtained-off shower/toilet area, and the upper apartments has a lower floor with kitchen/dining room and a separate toilet/bathroom, and an upper floor with a single large bedroom. We did not use the lower apartment, but found the upper one to be very comfortable and spacious.

Garden

The upper apartment has a small private garden at the rear. It includes a garden table and chairs under a tree - a very pleasant place to enjoy breakfast or dinner.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The apartment is tastefully furnished and in very good condition. There is a large table, with chairs, in the dining room, and another table with chairs in the garden. There is a clothes washing machine in the bathroom.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The bedroom was spacious, with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was small (with a very small bath), but quite adequate, and very clean.

Kitchen

The kitchen was very well equipped, with gas oven, range, and a good supply of pots, pans, etc. which were in good condition. The cooking equipment was more than adequate for cooking meals.

Problems or Bonuses

No problems at all. The private garden at the back is a very nice feature for such a reasonably priced rental property.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The owner, Barbara, speaks good English. She was very easy to deal with while booking via email, and was very friendly and helpful while we were staying in the apartment (including personally taking us on an interesting tour of some wineries in Montepulciano). We found the apartment to be as it had been advertised. The price is very reasonable given the location, size, and condition of the apartment.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this apartment, and would certainly stay here again.

Things to do in this area

Montichiello is in an excellent location, surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in Tuscany. Montepulciano, Pienza, and Montalcino are nearby, and Siena, Cortona, and Pitigliano are within reasonable driving distance.
